Wednesday's DFS action kicks off at 1:10 p.m. EDT with an "early only" and an "all day" slate. The main slate of games starts at the usual 7:05 p.m. EDT and features nine games.
Pitching
The Indians' Mike Clevinger ($9,400) will likely be a popular choice tonight with a great home matchup against the Tigers. Detroit's .286 wOBA against right-handed pitching is the second-lowest mark in the league, and their 25.9 percent strikeout rate is the second-highest. Clevinger has a tremendous amount of upside in this game and has scored 51 fantasy points in three of his six starts this season. Perhaps the most impressive stat this season is his 46 strikeouts in 29.1 innings.
The other good cash game option (outside of breaking the bank for Gerrit Cole at $11,400) is the Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray ($9,600). The Rangers are dreadful against southpaws, as their 28 percent strikeout rate is easily the league's highest rate and their .307 wOBA against that handedness is the ninth-lowest in baseball. Ray has been on a tear lately, scoring 40 or more fantasy points in four of his last five starts.
If you're looking for a bargain option, the Marlins' Trevor Richards ($6,400) should be on the radar. While he has struggled recently, getting 10 days of rest before a home matchup with the Padres should help. Richards has hit 31 fantasy points or more in 10 of his 18 starts this season, and the Padres have been bad against right-handed pitching. San Diego has a .308 wOBA against right-handed pitching and their 26.2 percent strikeout rate is the highest against that handedness. Richards is in play for both cash and GPPs.
Key Values/Chalk
When looking at the outfield, the Indians' Oscar Mercado ($2,900) seems like he should be a cash staple. He's stealing bases when he's not hitting for power and he's been unlucky at the plate recently, as all of his hard-hit balls seem to have found the gloves of the opposing team. Don't worry about the matchup with Spencer Turnbull.
It's going to be tough to ignore the Yankees' Didi Gregorius ($2,900) given he had a grand slam last night and faces a right-handed pitcher in Yankee Stadium. Gregorius had a .423 wOBA at home last season against right-handed pitching and has actually walked (10.8 percent) more than he struck out (10.3 percent).
The Diamondbacks' Jake Lamb ($2,600) seems way too cheap and will get a park upgrade playing in Arlington. Lamb has a career .352 wOBA against right-handed pitching and will face Jesse Chavez. Chavez has been much worse at home this season (5.28 ERA) than on the road (2.65 ERA).
Second base, as usual, is pretty thin, so it makes sense to pay up for a player like the Dodgers' Max Muncy ($3,900). Muncy has homered in four of his last six games and going against Nick Pivetta is a good matchup for him, given that Pivetta has allowed a 2.2 HR/9 this season.
He's a gamble for sure, but considering the price tag on him, the Orioles' Chris Davis ($2,300) could pay off big. He's facing Erick Fedde at home, someone who isn't considered a top pitching prospect. In 10 innings at Triple-A Fresno this season, Fedde has allowed five home runs to opposing batters.
Stacks
Dodgers at Phillies (Pivetta)
Muncy (2B - $3,900), Cody Bellinger (OF - $4,800), Joc Pederson (OF - $2,800), Corey Seager (SS - $3,000)
Again, Pivetta has been prone to the long ball and all four of the players listed have solid power. The Dodgers lineup leads baseball with a .348 wOBA against right-handed pitching.
Diamondbacks at Rangers (Chavez)
Lamb (3B - $2,600), Christian Walker (1B - $3,000), Eduardo Escobar (2B - $3,700), Jarrod Dyson (OF - $2,700)
Given his price tag, Dyson is in play even for cash games as he should continue to occupy the leadoff spot. It's ridiculously hot in Arlington (high of 98 degrees), which means the ball should be jumping out of the park.
