Heyward enjoyed a career resurgence in his first year in Los Angeles, posting his most plate appearances (374), home runs (15) and RBI (40) since 2019 while finishing with a .269/.340/.473 slash line. His power output was particularly notable, as Heyward has never been known as a major long-ball threat, reaching 20 homers just twice over 14 seasons. The veteran outfielder's hard-hit rate and exit velocity remained in line with his recent campaigns, but he was able to generate substantial increases in launch angle (15.4 percent) and barrel rate (8.1 percent), leading to the late-career power boost. Heyward is no longer an everyday player -- all but 28 of his trips to the plate last season came against right-handed pitching -- but a strong-side platoon role should await him again in 2024 after he re-upped with the Dodgers on a one-year deal.
