April 25, 2019
The Tigers released Paredes from his minor-league contract Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Though Paredes logged 32 appearances at the big-league level the past two seasons, it appears he was cut loose for performance-related reasons rather than for the purpose of allowing him to pursue opportunities elsewhere. He tossed 12 innings in relief for Triple-A Toledo and was charged with nine earned runs on 10 hits and nine walks.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Paredes ended up making his major-league debut in 2017 after opening the season with Double-A Mobile. The 22-year-old compiled a 1.89 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 38 innings between Double- and Triple-A before getting called up by the Angels in mid-June. He bounced between Salt Lake and Los Angeles for the remainder of the season, finishing his rookie campaign with a 4.43 ERA and 17:6 K:BB across 22.1 big-league innings. While his strikeout rate took a dip following his jump to the majors (24.4 percent with Triple-A to 18.8 percent with the Angels), that rate has rebounded in the past as he better acclimates himself to his new level of competition. Paredes has notched at least one save every year on the farm, and even picked one up with the Angels last season, but ninth-inning opportunities will be tough for him to come by in 2018 behind the likes of Cam Bedrosian and Blake Parker. There are more enticing middle-relief options in standard redraft leagues.
