Vicente signed a minor-league contract with the Pirates on Wednesday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Campos struggled across multiple stops in 2018, posting a 7.04 ERA and 20:13 K:BB across 23 innings with Double-A Mobile and Triple-A Salt Lake before finishing out the season in the independent Atlantic League, where he notched a 5.64 ERA and 17:11 K:BB in 22.1 innings with the Sugar Land Skeeters. Look for the 26-year-old righty to serve as organizational pitching depth for his new team.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2014
Campos came over to the Diamondbacks at the trade deadline from the Yankees in exchange for Tyler Clippard. He made one long relief appearance for Arizona before being sent back to Triple-A, but his season was cut short when he was diagnosed with a fractured right arm in early September. His recovery from surgery will take about eight months, so Campos will not be ready for the beginning of the season. The role Campos fills when he does come back is unclear. The righty has shown good stuff, as evidenced by his 25 percent or better strikeout rate in the low minors between 2010 and 2012. And Arizona's rotation struggled mightily in 2015, so there could be an opening for Campos. However, this is his second major surgery as a pro (he underwent Tommy John in 2014), so it remains to be seen how his arm responds.
Campos lost his entire 2014 season to Tommy John surgery, and likely won’t be ready for the start of camp in 2015, as the surgery was performed in late April. He also dealt with a monitored workload in 2013 due to pre-surgery elbow concerns. However, he posted fantastic numbers at every stop prior to going under the knife. The 6-foot-4 righty fanned 25.0% or more of his batters from 2010 to 2012 at the low levels of the minors, and while his strikeout rate dropped to 21.6% at Low-A Charleston in 2013, he still posted a solid 3.41 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 87 innings. He will likely be worked back on some rehab outings in the lower levels this summer, but could be ready to tackle Double-A by 2016. Campos comes with a lot of risk, and distant ETA, but he should not be forgotten about in deeper dynasty leagues.
Campos, who came to the Yankees in the Michael Pineda trade, looked great through the first half of 2012; but he suffered an elbow injury that put a damper on his rise up the prospect rankings. The Yankees carefully managed Campos' innings in 2013, as he was only allowed to pitch one outing of more than four innings for Low-A Charleston all season. Campos posted a decent strikeout rate while displaying good command in 2013, and is just 21 years old, and so he has time to establish himself as a future piece of the team's rotation.
