Past Fantasy Outlooks
2011
2010
Sanchez finished his second season as a starter after a conversion from catching and put up some solid numbers at High-A Clearwater last year. His K/9IP rate is just a touch below the 6.0 low end mark that you like to see from a pitcher, but his walk rate has been decent. For now, Sanchez is a fringe prospect who doesn't warrant much attention from fantasy leaguers. He'll probably get a shot at Double-A this year, but it will be in Huntsville instead of Reading after he signed a minor league deal with Milwaukee in December.
Sanchez, 22, was converted from catcher to pitcher last year and went 10-6 with a 3.44 ERA and a 120:42 K:BB ratio in 26 starts for Low-A Lakewood. He had a 2.41 ERA over his final 15 starts. Sanchez, who was acquired from the Yankees in 2006 as part of the Bobby Abreu trade, is the only piece the Phillies got back in that deal to show a glimmer of promise. His command looks very good for someone who wasn't even pitching prior to last season, so he's worth keeping an eye on.
