Clint Hurdle comes out to yank the tiring starting pitcher as he needs a groundball double-play to get out of the inning. There is one man for this job, and it's Schugel. The righty reliever is very tough on righties and pitches with a groundball tilt. This is the role he is made for. As good as he is against righties, he does not have a brighter future because lefties see him very well. When used properly, as he was last year, he can be very effective. Just don't expect that 1.97 ERA to hang around because only the most elite relievers can strand 91 percent of runners as Schugel did in 2017.
