Joe Colon

After serving a 50-game suspension for a second positive test for a drug of abuse, Colon returned to Triple-A Columbus before being called up by the Indians. The right-hander accumulated an impressive 0.82 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in 22.0 innings in Columbus, also registering a respectable 8.6 K/9 rate. However, after being called up to the majors, Colon struggled, posting a 7.20 ERA in just 10.0 innings. He still produced an impressive 9.0 K/9 rate, but his 6.3 BB/9 rate is too high to be trusted. Despite his inability to duplicate his Triple-A numbers in the pros yet, the small sample size we have to look at for Colon is also something to take into account. It is tough to say where the 26-year-old will factor into the stacked Indians bullpen, however, if he is able to pitch well in spring training he should be seen in the backend of the bullpen.
