Assigned to minor-league camp
2BChicago Cubs
March 13, 2018
Young was moved from the Cubs' spring training to minor-league camp Tuesday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Young's bat was silent this spring, as he went 4-for-29 (.138) over 16 games. Due to Chicago's astounding depth around the infield, Young's chances of reaching the majors this season are slim. He'll likely report to Triple-A Iowa, where he hit .256/.311/.311 over 120 games last season.

Farm Futures: Pacific Coast League Roundup
April 27, 2017
James Anderson jumps to Triple-A as he continues his tour of the minor leagues and wonders whether the Cubs will try to find room for Ian Happ on their roster later this summer.
2017 Fantasy Outlook
A polished college bat out of Mercer University, Young has done nothing but hit since being drafted in the 14th round in 2014. In fact, Young has not batted below .300 at any level of full-season ball since entering the minors. The 24-year-old spent a full season with Double-A Tennessee, hitting .303 with a .376 on-base percentage in 126 games. Young also stole 16 bases over that span, though was caught 14 times. Unfortunately, power is not a part of Young's skill set; he set a career high with four home runs this past season. Due to his lack of power as well as his only slightly above-average speed, Young's fantasy upside remains limited despite the ability to hit for average. There is also the issue of the bevy of talented middle infielders ahead of him on the depth chart, most notably Javier Baez and Addison Russell. Young should start the 2017 campaign in Triple-A, though he may have difficulty cracking the big-league roster.
