RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Chad McClanahan.
McClanahan isn't your typical 11th-round pick. He fell so far mainly because teams didn't think they'd be able to fit his signing bonus demands into their budget. The Brewers had to fork over $1.2 million -- $1.6 million after bonus pool overage fees paid to MLB -- to convince McClanahan to forgo a college career at Arizona State and join the Brewers. McClanahan is an impressive athlete, and at 6-foot-5 he has the frame to develop into a big-time power hitter. He struggled in 35 games at rookie ball after signing, but he did muster 11 extra-base hits in his short time on the field. If he can put some bulk onto his huge frame, McClanahan could become one of Milwaukee's best power-hitting corner prospects.
