Romero was put on the 7-day disabled list after suffering a left foot contusion, Guy Curtright of MiLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Romero had played just one game at High-A Jupiter, going 1-for-4 with a double, before being placed on the disabled list. He began the season at Double-A Jacksonville, but struggled as he slashed just .190/.299/.290. The severity of the contusion has yet to be determined, so there's no timetable for his return date at this point.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2015
2014
Romero split time between Low-A and High-A in 2014, and continued to flash an enticing offensive skill set. He slashed .320/.367/.423 in 118 total games, with 63 runs scored, five home runs, 31 doubles and 56 RBI. Romero continues to provide an elite 87 percent contact rate and showed progress as he transitioned from shortstop to second base in 2014. He has proven ready to face stiffer competition and is likely to see time at Double-A during the 2015 season. The path to playing time at the major league level remains fairly clear for the infielder as the Marlins have struggled to find a long-term solution at the keystone, so Romero has the potential to be fast-tracked up the ranks if he continues to make strides at the plate while developing consistent defense.
Romero is coming off a strong season in which he slashed .276/.341/.391 at two minor-league stops. The 21-year-old shortstop put together a solid contact rate (84%) in 2013 with 19 walks against 34 strikeouts. A questionable defender, Romero could ultimately end up at second base, but his solid approach at the plate and above-average bat speed should allow him to hit enough to play the keystone position. The 5-foot-11 infielder is likely headed to High-A Greensboro to start the season, but could find himself promoted quickly if he continues to hit in the minors.
