Closer Watch

Milwaukee - John Axford gave up a two-out, solo home run to Gaby Sanchez in the ninth inning to suffer another blown save Wednesday afternoon. Fortunately for Axford, Francisco Rodriguez has been inconsistent throughout the season and continues to struggle with his control, which may prevent manager Ron Roenicke from making more than a temporary change.

Recommended Pickup

Brett Wallace, 1B, HOU - Recent comments made by Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow suggested that Wallace could receive a long look in Houston upon his next promotion to the big club. With the trade of Carlos Lee to Miami, Matt Dominguez will likely slot into the mix at third base, leaving regular playing time at first base for Wallace following a .293/.358/.515 line with 13 homers and 45 RBI over 65 games (239 at-bats) at Triple-A Oklahoma City. Even Wallace fails to live up to the expectations placed on him as a prospect coming out of Arizona State, he could provide value in deeper leagues as an everyday option with a chance to hit near the middle of the Astros' lineup during the second half of the season.

Other Recent Recommendations: Yasmani Grandal, Salvador Perez, Jim Thome and Bobby Parnell.
