DraftKings MLB: Saturday Picks

DraftKings MLB: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Chris Archer, TB at CWS ($11,200): Corey Kluber ($13,200) will probably be the most popular pitcher Saturday against a depleted Tigers lineup, but I think Archer has similar upside against the White Sox. Archer has been extremely consistent, going at least six innings in 18 of his last 19 starts. Throw in what is a career high 30.1 percent K rate and he's a great fantasy producer. The White Sox have a low-end .310 wOBA against righties since Aug. 1 and even worse 24.4 percent K rate.

Kyle Gibson, MIN vs. KC ($6,800): Dan Straily ($8,600) was on my radar, but a pitcher going against the Royals is too good to pass up right now, despite them getting on track against Dillon Gee on Friday. Even better is that Gibson is on a bit of a hot streak, making it 13.2 innings in his last two starts while only giving up three runs with 15 strikeouts. Sure, he's hard to trust, but with Archer in the top slot, you can afford that. As for the Royals, their wOBA against righties is at .271 since Aug. 20.

CATCHER

Robinson Chirinos, TEX vs. LAA ($3,500): For a good price, Chirinos can provide you with a .427 wOBA and .217 ISO in his last 60 plate appearances against righties. Ricky Nolasco has been all over the place for the Angels with a .393 wOBA and .596 SLG allowed against righties.

FIRST BASE

Carlos Santana, CLE at DET ($4,600): The prices for Cleveland batters are juiced up against Jordan Zimmermann, but you can still grab a couple of guys if they're affordable. Santana has been on a roll over the last week (recently on a three-game homer streak) and has a .410 wOBA and .302 ISO in his last 63 plate appearances against righties. Zimmermann wasn't terrible at Coors Field in his last outing, giving up three runs, but he has allowed at least eight hits in each of his last four starts.

SECOND BASE

Chris Taylor, LAD at SD ($4,600): This is a bit pricey for a second baseman, but Taylor is out of his recent funk and sports a solid .352 wOBA in his last 29 plate appearances against lefties. His 27.6 percent K rate is worrisome, but Clayton Richard conveniently strikes out righties at a low 14.3 percent clip to go with a bad .375 wOBA allowed.

THIRD BASE

Cory Spangenberg, SD vs. LAD ($3,300): In that same game, Spangenberg is a much cheaper play in a great spot. Brock Stewart is starting the first game of the doubleheader and he hasn't surpassed four innings in his three starts this season. Stewart hasn't been all that great in relief either, with a 6.45 xFIP against lefties (54 batters faced). Spangenberg has a solid .403 wOBA and .296 ISO in his last 77 plate appearances against righties.

SHORTSTOP

Jorge Polanco, MIN vs. KC ($4,700): Polanco has been one of the better batters against lefties in the last month (35 plate appearances) with a .498 wOBA and .281 ISO. Eric Skoglund is back with the Royals after getting optioned for a day. He gave up seven runs in 1.1 innings against the Indians last start and doesn't have many good numbers to his name.

OUTFIELD

Matt Olson, OAK at SEA ($3,500): I haven't used Olson many times this season, but he's on a good run and in a nice matchup, so I'll try my luck. Olson has a stout .442 wOBA and .367 ISO in his last 53 plate appearances against righties, which includes a three-day home run streak this week. Yovani Gallardo got his start pushed back and could help Olson out as he's given up eight homers in his last five starts. Gallardo also has a .504 xFIP against lefties.

Steve Pearce, TOR at BAL ($3,000): Wade Miley has come around in recent starts, but he's still not completely mowing down teams. Pearce provides a cheap righty bat with a .333 wOBA and .261 ISO in his last 26 plate appearances against lefties. All of Miley's struggles come against righties with .367 wOBA allowed and 4.66 xFIP.

Ben Revere, LAA at TEX ($3,400): I'll round out the outfield with another cheap bat in a favorable spot. Revere has produced a .378 wOBA in his last 68 plate appearances against righties and faces a shaky A.J. Griffin. The righty hurler has allowed at least three runs in three of his last four starts with 11 walks over that period. He also brings in a troubling 6.51 xFIP against lefties.
