A three-game slate like Sunday night's certainly makes viable value a bit harder to identify than usual. However, It just so happens that the six teams in action do have enough modestly priced options that are capable of outpacing their current salaries. While some aren't exactly reliable cash-game considerations, they're all worthy GPP candidates. With that in mind, let's delve further into who can open up salary while providing upside:
POINT GUARD
Derrick White, SA vs. LAC ($5,800): White has scored 24.7 to 48 fantasy points in four of his last five games, just the latest example of the solid play he's providing as the Spurs starting point guard. White had also scored 22.2 to 38.7 fantasy points in a separate eight-game stretch dating back to December, and he'll be in a good position to provide a similar caliber of production Sunday. The Clippers have been generous to point guards all season, allowing the ninth-most fantasy points (44.1) to the position, along with the fifth-most points (22.4). The fact the Clippers allow the fifth-most points in the paint per game (51.5) could also work in White's favor, as he's been solid on drives to the basket and is logging just over half of his scoring (50.7 percent) in that area of the floor.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, LAC at SAN ($3,600): Gilgeous-Alexander is one of those GPP-only value plays alluded to earlier, as the rookie's production has been very difficult to trust recently. He's coming off a 42.1 fantasy-point explosion versus the Warriors on Friday, but that performance was preceded by four straight games of 15.2 fantasy points or fewer. Prior to that, Gilgeous-Alexander had scored 20.4 to 33.6 fantasy points in four straight, further testament to his inconsistency. The Spurs have allowed a respectable 40.2 fantasy points per game to point guards, but they're also allowing the second-highest shooting percentage (48.0) to the position. In turn, Gilgeous-Alexander is shooting an impressive 47.9 percent, making him highly capable of exploiting that weakness.
SHOOTING GUARD
Jeremy Lamb, CHA at IND ($6,000): Lamb has eclipsed 30 fantasy points in two of his last three games, as he continues to be a steady contributor in both scoring and rebounding. While Indiana has been tough on shooting guards overall courtesy of Victor Oladipo's defense, they're also tied with several teams for the fifth-most made threes (3.5) allowed to the position. In turn, Lamb is shooting a solid 34.2 percent from distance on a career-high 3.8 three-point attempts per contest, making him a potentially good candidate to exploit one of the Pacers' rare defensive vulnerabilities.
Marco Belinelli, SA vs. LAC ($4,500): Belinelli has a tendency to be streaky, and he's currently sporting a hot hand. The veteran sharpshooter has scored 23.9 to 32.5 fantasy points in four straight games, and he's drained multiple threes in five consecutive games overall. The Clippers could well facilitate more of the same, considering they've allowed 47.5 fantasy points per game to shooting guards, as well as the 10th-most points per game (25.7) to the position. Los Angeles is also allowing 35.7 percent shooting from three-point range on the road, while Belinelli boasts a 38.5 percent success rate from distance -- his best since the 2013-14 season -- on a career-high 5.0 three-point attempts.
SMALL FORWARD
Bojan Bogdanovic, IND vs. CHA ($5,500): Bogdanovic continues to go through occasional scoring downswings that have been a trademark throughout his career, but he's been outpacing his current price more often than not. The veteran sharpshooter has scored just 10.7 and 17.9 fantasy points over his last two games, but he'd tallied 26.2 to 42.3 in five of the prior seven contests. The Hornets have allowed 41.1 fantasy points per game to threes, and it's also worth noting they're yielding the ninth-highest three-point percentage (37.0) of any team on the road. For his part, Bogdanovic is draining a career-best 43.9 percent of his long-distance attempts, and he's shooting a career-high 49.7 percent overall.
Rudy Gay, SA vs. LAC ($5,300): Gay has averaged 31.2 fantasy points over three prior games against the Clippers this season, and he's coming off a 35.3 fantasy-point effort versus the Timberwolves on Friday. The Clippers have been vulnerable to small forwards all season, allowing 45.8 fantasy points per game to threes, along with averages of 22.0 points and 9.1 rebounds. Meanwhile, Gay comes in shooting a career-high 51.6 percent (including a career-best 41.1 percent from three-point range), and he's already shot 60.0 percent versus the Clippers this season in his aforementioned trio of games against them.
POWER FORWARD
Thaddeus Young, IND vs. CHA ($6,600): Young is averaging 27.3 fantasy points per game, but he's been trending much higher recently. The veteran big has eclipsed 30 fantasy points in six of his last eight games, and he's shot well over 60.0 percent in five of them. He'll draw a matchup that's prime for more of the same Sunday. The Hornets have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points (44.1) per game to fours, along with the second-most rebounds (11.6). Charlotte is also sporting the fourth-lowest shooting percentage of any team on the road (43.8), a degree of inaccuracy that should give Young some extra opportunities on the defensive glass.
Taj Gibson, MIN vs. PHO ($5,000): Gibson has scored over 30 fantasy points twice and well over 20 on three other occasions over his last seven contests. That stretch also includes four double-doubles, and he'll be in position for another potentially strong return Sunday. The Suns have allowed 42.7 fantasy points per game to power forwards, which ranks them in the bottom half of the NBA. They're also yielding a robust 48.0 percent success rate from the floor to fours, while Gibson sports the second-highest shooting percentage (55.7) of his career. The fact the Suns allow the second-most points in the paint per road game (53.5) also bodes well for Gibson's prospects, considering he logs 71.1 percent of his scoring in that area of the floor.
CENTER
Willy Hernangomez, CHA at IND ($4,000): Hernangomez's teammate Bismack Biyombo ($4,300) is also worthy of consideration, but Hernangomez may see less of Myles Turner's tough defense while coming off the bench. Hernangomez has also turned in 36.7 and 22.6 fantasy points, respectively, over the last two games, averaging a whopping 14.5 rebounds in those contests. The Hornets' shooting struggles on the road described previously could also help the young center continue racking up offensive rebounds, and his price is such that a 5x return is certainly within reach despite what are typically limited minutes.
