FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

Guards:

Chris Paul, HOU at DAL ($8,200): While Paul hasn't been putting up vintage numbers recently, the fact that he's averaging over 41 fantasy points per game for the season still shows that he's an elite point guard. Usually, a player averaging that many fantasy points would be approaching $9,000, so Paul is quite the bargain at this price. What adds to the intrigue is the fact that James Harden is expected to miss this game and that's a league-high 36 percent usage rate and nearly 20 shots out of the lineup. Paul will be happy to take on that monster workload, as he faces a Dallas defense that allows 20.1 points to opposing point guards, the fourth-worst mark in the league.

Kris Dunn, CHI at ATL ($7,200): Dunn has been superb as the starting point guard for the Bulls this season, as he leads this team with 32.3 fantasy points per game. That alone makes Dunn a solid value at this price, but the fact that he has at least 40 fantasy points in three of his last six games shows the sort of upside he provides. It's the matchup that really makes him an enticing option here though, with Atlanta ranking 24th in defensive efficiency and 23rd in points allowed.

D'Angelo Russell, BRO vs. PHI ($6,800): It's strange that Russell is shooting guard eligible on FanDuel, as he's truly a point guard at a shallower position. It's a bit discouraging that he's mixed gems with duds recently, but that's natural from a player coming off an injury. The blow-up performances are hard to overlook, as he has at least 27 fantasy points in seven of his last 10 games while scoring at least 35 fantasy points five times during that stretch. That's all you can ask for from a player south of $7,000 and he gets to face a Sixers defense that allows the second-most fantasy points to opposing point guards.

Forwards:

Paul Millsap, DEN vs. SAC ($6,500): Millsap has struggled in his return from a wrist issue, but the fact that he's nearing a full complement of minutes means he's due to get out of this slump sooner rather than later. Not only has he traditionally been an $8,000 player in the past, he's still averaging 31.6 fantasy points per game for the year. It's not like this slump is disastrous either, as he has at least 26 fantasy points in five of his six games since returning from injury. The main reason he's due to snap his slump is this favorable matchup, as Millsap faces a Kings defense that ranks 29th in defensive efficiency.

Harrison Barnes, DAL vs. HOU ($6,200): Barnes has been destroying his price tag recently and it's hard to understand why it's still only $6,200. Not only did he drop 37 fantasy points in his most recent game on Saturday, Barnes also has at least 27 fantasy points in eight of his last nine games. While Houston has been a defense to avoid this season, they do allow the 14th-most fantasy points to opposing small forwards.

Robert Covington, PHI at BRO ($5,700): Covington has been hovering in the high $5,000's for weeks now, as his 27 fantasy points per game continues to rise. He actually has at least 29 fantasy points in four of his last five games and he's averaging over 31 fantasy points per game during that span. The matchup against Brooklyn may be the best part of this play though, as they rank 27th in points allowed and 23rd in defensive efficiency.

Centers:

Myles Turner, IND at BOS ($6,300): Turner has had a disappointing season for year-long owners who took him early in their drafts, but this $6,300 price tag makes him an intriguing option with that sort of upside in his back pocket. He's shown that recently and has at least 35 fantasy points in three of his last four games. He dropped that exact fantasy total the last time he faced the Celtics too, as Boston has been allowing the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing centers in their last 10 games.

Dewayne Dedmon, ATL vs. CHI ($5,800): Dedmon has been special since regaining the
starting center role in Atlanta, as he's scored at least 21 fantasy points in six-straight games. His upside has been incredible recently too, considering he has at least 38 fantasy points in two of his last five games. Chicago has been a spectacular matchup for opposing centers all season as well, as they allow the second-most fantasy points to the position.
