Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Wednesday brings four games in the NBA with the Rockets and Jazz both one win away from advancing to the second round. The Cavaliers and Raptors will also be looking to win at home to take a 3-2 lead in their respective series. This could be one of the last four-game slates left this season, so let's take advantage and try to bring home some money on Yahoo.

GUARDS

Donovan Mitchell, UTA at OKC ($34): The Jazz have a chance to put the Thunder away on the road in large part because of Mitchell's excellent play in this series. He's scored at least 37.2 Yahoo points in all four games, three of which have resulted in Jazz wins. His 29.1% usage rate during the regular season ranked inside the top 20 in the league, so it's no surprise that he is averaging 23.8 shot attempts per game in this series. Expect much of the same from him Wednesday.

Derrick Rose, MIN at HOU ($13): Rose has turned out to have a significant role off the bench in this series and even played 32 minutes in Game 4. Although most of his contributions are limited to the offensive end, he has scored at least 22.4 Yahoo points in three of the four games these two teams have played so far. If you are looking to save some money at guard Wednesday, Rose is a viable option.

Guard to Avoid

Eric Gordon, HOU vs. MIN ($17): Gordon had his best game of the playoffs in Game 4, finishing with 25.2 Yahoo points. He had scored 17.9 Yahoo points or fewer in each of the previous three games and has limited upside coming off the bench. If you're going to go the cost-effective route, it makes more sense to play Rose at an even cheaper price as they have similar upsides.

FORWARDS

LeBron James, CLE vs. IND ($58): The Cavaliers gained home court advantage back with a big win in Game 4, led by James who played a whopping 46 minutes. He has played at least 40 minutes in every game so far as the Cavaliers try to fend off a first round upset. James has scored at least 54.4 Yahoo points in each game so far and will have an extremely high ceiling again Wednesday.

Kelly Oubre Jr., WAS at TOR ($15): Oubre has proven to be a valuable member of the second unit for the Wizards, scoring at least 24 Yahoo points in three straight games. Not only did he score at least 10 points in each of those contests, but he also combined for four steals and three blocks. His upside isn't off the charts, but he can still provide value at this price.

Forward to Avoid

Otto Porter Jr., WAS at TOR ($23): Porter's role in the offense is diminished now that John Wall is healthy, so he hasn't scored more than 12 points in any game this series. His production has been limited as a result, scoring 28.7 Yahoo points or fewer in each contest. He's not overly cheap, so it might make sense for your budget to stay away from using him Wednesday.

CENTERS

Rudy Gobert, UTA at OKC ($31): As important as Mitchell has been for the Jazz in this series, Gobert has been equally as important in the middle, scoring at least 33.5 Yahoo points in three straight games. He finished with a double-double in each of those contests and has seven blocks in the series. The Thunder don't have much size up front outside of Steven Adams, so look for Gobert to excel again in Game 5.

Jonas Valanciunas, TOR vs. WAS ($19): Valanciunas doesn't get a lot of playing time, logging 23 minutes or fewer in each game of this series. He showed his potential though in Game 2, finishing with 40.3 Yahoo points. His limited minutes make him a bit of a risky play, but his upside also makes him someone to consider at this price in tournament play.

Center to Avoid

Steven Adams, OKC vs. UTA ($22): After a great regular season, this has been a series to forget for Adams. Not only is he up against maybe the best defensive center in the league in Gobert, but he's also been hampered by foul trouble. He has scored 24.9 Yahoo points or fewer in all four games, so he seems like an unnecessary risk to take Wednesday.
