DFS College Basketball: Wednesday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

A top-25 showdown between two teams atop the SEC highlights today's action, as Arkansas travels to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama. It's part of an eight-game DraftKings slate with the featured contest being the $15 Pull Up Jumper with a $2k top prize. Over on FanDuel, we have six games ahead of the $4.44 All American with $1,000 going to the winner. DraftKings starts a half-hour earlier at 6:30 p.m. EST.

Targets

David Duke, G, Providence ($8,000 DK, $7,800 FD)

Duke gets a little bit of a discount after struggling against a solid UConn defense in his last game, but he outperformed today's salary in his previous three games. He's only the ninth-most expensive option but has a huge ceiling, having posted two 50+ point fantasy games during conference action. Duke also matches up well against Xavier, having made seven threes en route to a 30-point night in the team's earlier meeting this season.

DJ Carton, G, Marquette ($5,800 DK, $5,700 FD)

Marquette has been a tricky offense to figure out with role player Jamal Cain coming in as the top-priced option tonight. However, it wasn't that long ago that Carton was priced in the $7k range and he's lived up to this salary in all but three games this season. UNC has a lot of size and has defended the interior really well, so this should be a good matchup for Carton to drain some threes and have success with his mid-range game.

John Fulkerson, F, Tennessee ($5,000 DK, $5,400 FD)

A good matchup for Tennessee tonight is ahead against a Vanderbilt squad that ranks last in the SEC defensively. The Commodores have really struggled to defend the paint, allowing opponents to shoot 54 percent from inside the arc, as they lack much size. One of Fulkerson's best games of the season came in an earlier meeting with Vanderbilt, as the Vols scored 81 points and Fulkerson shot 5-of-6 from the floor with eight boards.

Fades

Dylan Disu, F, Vanderbilt ($8,900 DK, $7,200 FD)

When looking at the most expensive options to fade on the slate, I turn my attention to Disu, who is priced $1,700 higher on DraftKings and $1,900 than he was less than a month ago. Although he's coming off two exceptional games in which he posted double-doubles, he'll face a Tennessee team that is ranked fifth in the country in defensive efficiency that held him to 26 fantasy points in their first meeting. Scotty Pippen has also been the go-to-guy for the Commodores.

Herb Jones, G/F, Alabama ($6,900 DK, $6,500 FD)

Although Jones has been an efficient contributor for Alabama, I'd be hesitant to spend an above-average salary on a player that is often the fourth option offensively and has been capped at 22 minutes in three of his last five games. Jones put up 25.5 fantasy points in their first meeting, but he only missed one field goal in that game as the Crimson Tide dropped 90 points. Meanwhile, Jaden Shackelford ($7,600 DK, $5,800 FD) can be had for slightly more while seeing higher minutes and being more involved in the offense.

Nate Johnson, G, Xavier ($6,400 DK, $5,100 FD)

A big price difference between the two sites makes it difficult to play Johnson on DraftKings. Johnson has been money from long-range at 45 percent thus far, but Providence is holding opponents to 31 percent from deep and hasn't allowed more than five threes in a game in four of their last five. In this price-range I'd prefer a pivot to teammate Colby Jones ($5,900 DK, $4,300 FD), who has posted back-to-back double-digit games including his first double-double of the season.
