Diakite (knee) has decided to transfer to Iona, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.

Diakite enrolled early in 2017-18, but he missed the entire season due to a knee injury. Now that he will take his talents to a different school, he will likely be forced to sit out another season before being eligible to play for his new school during 2019-20.

Diakite (knee) will transfer away from St. Johns, Zach Braziller of the New York Post reports.

Diakite redshirted this past season due to a torn patellar tendon. The decision to move on was reportedly mutual, as it Diakite was not expected to play much for St. Johns during the 2018-19 campaign.

Diakite will reclassify and enroll in classes at St. John's, Zag's Blog reports. The 6-8 forward will redshirt in 2017-18 as he recovers from knee surgery.

Diakete is a high-ceiling recruit who will be able to acclimate himself to St. John's and coach Chris Mullin's system while he rehabilitates his knee. He could be part of a major Red Storm upswing starting in the 2018-19 season.
