Johnson underwent arthroscopic surgery on his hip Wednesday.

The procedure is only expected to keep Johnson sidelined temporarily and at this point, he's in no danger of missing any time heading into the 2018-19 campaign. In his first year at North Carolina following his transfer from Pittsburgh, Johnson averaged 12.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 three-pointers across 29.3 minutes. Look for additional updates to provided as he hits milestones in the recovery process.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coach Roy Williams indicated Thursday that Johnson (back) will be "full go" for Friday's opening round matchup against Lipscomb, ESPN reports.

Johnson couldn't participate in shootaround Tuesday while nursing a sore back, but the issue has apparently subsided after he injured his back in the ACC Championship Game against Virginia. He should play around 30 minutes like usual in the opening-round matchup and the Tar Heels are justifiably a heavy favorite to take down Lipscomb.

Johnson (back) was unable to take part in Tuesday's shootaround and weight lifting session, Brant Wilkerson of Greensboro.com reports.

Johnson injured his back during a fall in the ACC championship game against Virginia. Coach Roy Williams stated that if North Carolina had to play Tuesday, Johnson "wouldn't play at all". However, Williams is optimistic the senior forward will be able to go for Thursday's matchup with Lipscomb in their first game of the NCAA Tournament. There's a chance he could be held out of the game as a precaution with the hope that he'll be healthy for their next opponent.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Johnson finished with 20 points, five rebounds and two assists Tuesday against Miami.

Johnson was 7-of-10 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. He had previously hit just 7-of-22 over his last two games, and will look to remain hot Saturday night at Duke.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Johnson had 18 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and one block Thursday against Duke.

Johnson hit four 3-pointers while making a clear effort to attack the glass. While it was his second double-double on the year, he had just 14 total boards in his previous five games. He'll look to repeat this performance against a North Carolina State team that held him to 12 points two weeks ago.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Johnson finished with a career-high 32 points, four rebounds and one assist Tuesday at Clemson.

Johnson was seeing a big basket all night, hitting 10-of-18 from the floor, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range. He has enjoyed facing the Tigers this year, scoring 21 in an earlier meeting, but he had only 31 total points in the three games in between those matchups, showing his inconsistency.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Johnson posted 14 points, 11 rebounds and five assists Tuesday against Boston College.

North Carolina moved to a smaller lineup in the wake of two losses last week, with Johnson replacing freshman Garrison Brooks in the starting five. He responded with his first double-double while playing twice as many minutes as Brooks. Given the success for Johnson, this figures to be a trend moving forward.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Johnson (knee) racked up 10 points (1-5 FG, 1-5 3PT, 7-8 FT), three rebounds, an assist and a steal Wednesday against Wofford.

Johnson wasn't afraid to shoot from beyond the arc, but he failed to connect near the 41.5 percent he did as a junior with Pitt last season. The senior transfer appears set to be a big piece of the rotation for the Tar Heels, but he seems destined to come off the bench for the time being. Johnson averaged 11.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists over 33.3 minutes on a Pitt team that ranked 298th in the league in Ken Pom's adjusted tempo. Those numbers could skyrocket if he sees similar minutes on a North Carolina team that pushes the tempo, ranking 21st in the category this season.
