Matthews (knee) got the start Friday and chipped in 14 points, two assists, and a steal over 29 minutes in a loss to St. Bonaventure.

A knee injury had Matthews listed as questionable heading into Friday, but he was able to go through shootaround and remain in the starting lineup. He had one of his better offensive outings of conference play with 14 points on 4-for-9 shooting, which included three three-pointers. Now that the knee issue is seemingly behind him, look for Matthews to remain a key cog of the Rams' starting five down the stretch.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Matthews (knee) will play Friday against St. Bonaventure, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.

The Rams' rotation will remain intact Friday with Matthews available to play despite dealing with a knee issue in Tuesday game against Richmond. He's sat out of practice in recent days to help alleviate the issue, and after warming up Friday, Matthews will be able to give it a go. It'll be worth monitoring whether coach Dan Hurley scales back Matthews' usual workload instead of letting him play his usual 26.8 minutes.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Matthews' (knee) availability for Friday's game against St. Bonaventure remains in question, Frank Carpano of WJAR-TV reports.

Matthews participated in Friday morning's shootaround prior to their game against St. Bonaventure. Coach Dan Hurley claimed Matthews feels great and he will be later evaluated as a game-time decision for Friday night's game. The senior guard left Tuesday's game against Richmond with a knee injury and then missed the majority of Wednesday's practice wearing a knee brace on his left leg.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Matthews joined the team at the end of Wednesday's practice session while wearing a knee brace on his left leg and will be considered day-to-day for the time being, The Providence Journal's Bill Koch reports.

Matthews missed a majority of the team's practice, which leaves his availability in doubt for Friday's games against St. Bonaventure. Coach Dan Hurley said that there was no need for an MRI, which is clearly a good sign, although he wouldn't go as far as stating that Matthews will be ready this weekend. There should be an update on his status prior to tip-off.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Matthews (knee) was not at the team's practice Wednesday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

The guard suffered a left knee injury during Tuesday's win over Richmond and his status remains uncertain for Friday's clash against St. Bonaventure. Matthews previously missed most of the 2015-16 season with a torn ACL, and it's likely that the team will sit him out if there's any concern over this latest incident. Expect another update on his status in the coming days.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Matthews left the win over Richmond on Tuesday with a knee injury, WTVR reports. The injury is not a torn ACL and he will be re-evaluated on Wednesday. He finished with two points (1-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt) in 15 minutes.

Matthews missed the majority of the 2015-16 season with a torn ACL and missed six games earlier this season with a wrist injury. The fifth-year senior is second on the Rams with 12.9 points and scored 20 points or more four times. With any luck, the injury will be minor and the 6-5 guard will be able to return sooner rather than later.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Matthews notched a team high with 18 points (5-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 6-6 FT) and added five rebounds in another win on Friday against VCU.

After returning to the lineup from a wrist injury, the Rams have won 14 straight games. Matthews is a four year starter, but this season he is averaging a career-low 14 PPG and 4.1 RPG, but shooting a career-high 45 percent from the field. Rhode Island will look to continue their winning streak next Friday when they host Davidson.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Matthews is back in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against Florida Gulf Coast, Bill Koch of the Providence Journal reports.

According to Koch, this marks Matthews' first start since fracturing his wrist in mid-November. In his two starts this season, Matthews averaged 14.0 points and 3.0 rebounds over 26.5 minutes.
