Brunson announced Wednesday in a personal essay that he would hire an agent and enter the 2018 NBA Draft, forgoing his final season of eligbility at Villanova, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Though the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Brunson is viewed as a fringe first-round selection by most draftniks, there was little left for him to prove at the collegiate level after leading Villanova to its second championship in three years earlier this month and taking home Naismith National Player of the Year honors after averaging 18.9 points (on 52.1 percent shooting from the field), 4.6 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 three-pointers in 31.8 minutes per game as a junior. With the point guard off to the pro ranks, senior Phil Booth and sophomore Collin Gillespie are expected to initiate the offense more frequently in 2018-19.

April 1, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brunson had 18 points (7-14 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-3 FT), six assists and two rebounds across 35 minutes in Saturday's Final Four victory over Kansas.

Brunson didn't need to have a scoring outburst for Villanova, as the team won with a balanced attack where each starter scored in double figures. The Nova point guard has reached double figures himself in every NCAA Tournament game, averaging 17.6 PPG across five contests.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brunson scored a team-high 27 points (8-15 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 8-9 FT) with four assists in the win over West Virginia on Friday in the NCAA Tournament.

The West Virginia press was not terribly effective against Villanova and Brunson only had three turnovers in 37 minutes. The junior continues to be highly efficient in the NCAA Tournament and has hit 58.1 percent from the field and 53.3 percent of his 3-pointers. Things will not get easier in the Elite Eight against Keenan Evans and Texas Tech.

March 16, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brunson scored 16 points (7-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt) with four assists and three rebounds in the win over Radford in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday.

The Wildcats burst out to an early lead and held a 21-point advantage by halftime. Coach Jay Wright was able to rest his starters and Brunson only played 28 minutes. He will need all of his energy against Colin Sexton and Alabama on Saturday. The junior has converted 60.3 percent of his field goals over his last five games.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brunson scored a team-high 31 points (12-23 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 3-5 FT) with six rebounds and four assists in the overtime win over Providence in the Big East Tournament finals on Saturday.

Brunson averaged 23.0 points in the Big East Tournament and converted 56.5 percent of his field goals. The point guard led the Wildcats to their second straight Big East Tournament championship. Brunson scored in double digits in every game this season.

March 3, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brunson provided 16 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven assists, and three rebounds in the win over Georgetown on Saturday.

Brunson may not be the flashiest national Player of the Year candidate, but he is the rock at the center of the Villanova success. He only had 1.7 turnovers compared to 4.8 assists and was efficient from the field. The Wildcats won four of their last five games and Brunson averaged 14.8 points and 5.4 assists over that span.

February 24, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brunson scored a team-high 22 points (8-20 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT) with five rebounds and five assists in the overtime loss to Creighton on Saturday.

It is not necessarily a good thing for the Wildcats when Brunson takes 20 shots. They are just 1-3 on the season when the point guard calls his own number that often. Brunson will look to distribute more on Wednesday against Seton Hall. He had 21 points and six assists in the Feb. 4 win over the Pirates.

February 18, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brunson amassed 11 points (5-12 FG, 1-6 3Pt), eight assists and three rebounds in Saturday's win over Xavier.

Brunson was practically a non-factor from deep in Saturday's game, but the junior guard's vision was a key factor in the win. Brunson dished out a season-high eight assists and finished with a spotless turnover margin to bounce back from a career-worst, seven-turnover performance in Thursday's game against Providence.
