2019 Tournament PreviewEven casual college hoops fans have the Racers on their radar, as projected NBA lottery pick Ja Morant (24.6 ppg, 10.0 apg, 5.5 rpg) has filled highlight reels all season with prolific dunks. The 6-3 sophomore guard played 40 minutes in each of the last three games, scoring 36 points in the Ohio Valley championship against top-seeded Belmont. Morant's ability to drive the lane and collapse defenses creates easy opportunities for teammates -- the Racers rank fifth nationally in two-point field-goal percentage. Murray State isn't prolific from the perimeter, though, as freshman Tevin Brown (11.7 ppg, 4.7 rpg) is the leading long-range shooter at 37.0 percent. Two others average double figures, but Murray State's tallest rotation player is 6-9 KJ Williams (7.6 ppg, 4.7 rpg). Winners of 11 consecutive games, the Racers rank 52nd on KenPom and 43rd in the NET, going 1-2 against both Quad 1 and Quad 2 teams. The key, of course, to stopping Murray State is slowing Morant, who is capable of carrying the Racers on a Cinderella run.
