Freeman decided Saturday to retire from football, Herb Zurkowsky of the Montreal Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Freeman, who was in the midst of his first season in the Canadian Football League, made the choice to put an end to his career Saturday. The former first-round pick of the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers was projected to be the backup to starter Drew Willy before the announcement. With his departure, the second-string duties will now likely fall to Matthew Shiltz.
