Burks was removed from the Argonauts' depth chart in advance of Friday's game against the Eskimos.

Burks made his CFL debut last week and tallied one carry, one reception, four yards from scrimmage, and a kickoff return, but he will not get a chance to build upon that showing in Week 5.

Burks is listed as the third-string running back for Saturday's game against the Eskimos.

Burks is unlikely to see much time behind James Wilder and Martese Jackson, especially since he's yet to record a carry or reception this season. Look for him to take the field if the game is a blowout or there's an injury.

Burks impressed in Toronto's preseason opener Friday, the Toronto Sun reports.

Burks ran for just 18 yards on five carries Friday, but according to the report, he showed good explosion while taking a screen pass 27 yards to he house. Burks said he is still not 100 percent recovered from a knee injury suffered in 2017, but he is clearly healthy enough to take the field, and he could gain some extra burst once he gets his game legs back under him.

Burks signed a contract Monday with the Argonauts.

The 24-year-old Burks didn't play professionally in 2017 after being waived by the NFL's New York Jets last April. Burks, who has had another brief stint in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers after going undrafted out of Troy in 2016, is expected to serve in a depth capacity for the Argonauts during the upcoming campaign.
