RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay (knee) is not among the names listed on the depth chart for the regular-season opener.

Lulay continues to work his way back from a torn ACL that ended his season in September of last year, opting not to retire following the injury. He's not completely healthy yet, leaving Ricky Lloyd to serve as the second-string quarterback and Cody Fajardo third on the depth chart for Week 1. BC has Week 2 off before returning to the field June 29 against Edmonton, giving Lulay added rest before his next opportunity to return.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay (knee) is "progressing well" and will not begin training camp on the deferred list, Farhan Lalji of TSN reports.

This is certainly good news for BC, as Lulay has proven to be a reliable backup when needed. The team will reportedly hold a workout for him on Friday following his physical, which will be open to media.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay (knee) re-signed with the Lions to a one-year contract.

The 10-year veteran saw some early action last season following an injury to fellow quarterback Jonathon Jennings, putting up a record performance in Week 4 against Hamilton where he had 436 passing yards and three touchdowns across 29 completions. However, after earning a few spots starts later in the season, Lulay ended up suffering a season-ending knee injury, which cut the campaign short. While it's unclear if Lulay is fully recovered from it, he's been re-signed to the Lions and should once again provide some reliable relief off the bench when called upon.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay (knee), following the results of an MRI, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

As expected, the injury Lulay suffered during Friday's game against the Alouettes is serious, causing him to miss the rest of the year. As a result, Jonathon Jennings is seemingly the next man up under center. He's 145-for-223 for 17,20 yards, six touchdowns and nine interceptions on the season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay is believed to have suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in Friday's victory over the Alouettes, The Province reports.

The full extent of Lulay's knee injury has not been revealed just yet, but it appears his season will come to an end due to the setback he suffered in Week 12. Jonathon Jennings is in line to reclaim his role as the Lions' starting quarterback.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay was forced out of Friday's game against the Alouettes after injuring his right knee.

The injury occurred after Lulay was tackled during the first possession of the game. He was making his first start since Week 7. Jonathon Jennings subsequently replaced Lulay under center. Expect an update once the team provides more clarity on the situation.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay was named the Lions' new starting quarterback over Jonathon Jennings, Lowell Ullrich of TSN reports.

After entering Saturday's game during the second half and almost leading the biggest comeback in CFL history, the Lions have opted to make the veteran the team's starter. The move also comes after three straight losses. Notably, during Aug. 13's game against the Roughriders, the Lions managed to score just eight points while giving up 41. Over the six games Lulay has participated in this season, he's 121-for-165 with 1,693 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay entered Saturday's 31-24 loss to the Redblacks at the start of the second half and completed 18 of 23 passes for 202 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed four times for 36 yards.

The crafty veteran almost help author the biggest comeback in CFL history, leading the Lions to the brink of a tie after they'd opened the fourth quarter with a 31-3 deficit. However, he was picked off by Jonathan Newsome with 1:27 remaining at the Redblacks' 49-yard line, snuffing out B.C.'s last chance. Prior to the late gaffe, Lulay did fire a pair of three-yard scores to Jeremiah Johnson and Bryan Burnham, and may have earned the starting job for the remainder of the season. The Lions have a bye in Week 11, giving head coach Wally Buono some time to decide if he'll hand the reins of the offense back to Jonathon Jennings or stick with Lulay heading into Week 12.

August 26, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay will take over at quarterback during the second half against the Ottawa Redblacks, the BC Lions report.

After teammate Jonathon Jennings under-performed during the first half, Lulay will step back on the field as the starter. He played very well in place of Jennings when he was injured the last few weeks, and the Lions are looking for Lulay to change the momentum of the game.

August 12, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay is listed as the backup quarterback for Sunday's game against the Roughriders.

Lulay provided excellent play in place of an injured Jonathon Jennings the last several weeks, but he will move back into a reserve role this week with Jennings ready to get back on the field. The Lions appear committed to using Jennings as their starting quarterback, but the team may be more willing than they were previously to give Lulay a shot if Jennings struggles.

August 8, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay is still feeling soreness from a hit he took in the Lions' Week 7 win over the Roughriders, Farhan Lalji of TSN reports.

Lulay had another impressive game last week, but he also took a big hit in the contest and is still not back to 100 percent. Fellow quarterback and Week 1 starter Jonathon Jennings appears ready to return from a shoulder injury in Week 8, so Lulay could be back in a reserve role moving forward. The Lions figure to provide another update on their quarterback situation later this week.

August 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay completed 19 of 28 passes for 338 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in Saturday's 30-15 win over the Riders. He also gained 32 yards on six rushes and rushed for a two-point conversion.

Just another superlative effort for Lulay, who's put together a quartet of impressive performances in relief of Jonathon Jennings (shoulder). The 33-year-old now has eight touchdowns over those four contests, along with an excellent 73.6 completion percentage. With Jennings having been able to practice this past week and subsequently suiting up as the third-string quarterback Saturday, this may have been Lulay's last starting assignment for the time being. However, should he get one more start or re-enter the starting lineup at another point in the season, he becomes a must-play in any format.

August 4, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay will start at quarterback Saturday against the Roughriders.

Fellow quarterback Jonathon Jennings (shoulder) progressed at practice this week but is still not ready to resume his starting role, so Lulay will be under center for another contest. Lulay has accounted for at least three touchdowns in three straight games, including last week's matchup against the league's top defense in the Eskimos. As such, there is plenty of reason to expect him to continue having success as long as he is starting for the Lions.

July 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay completed 22 of 26 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions, while adding nine carries for 45 yards and a touchdown, in Friday's 37-26 loss to Edmonton.

The numbers were good from a fantasy perspective but Lulay couldn't keep up with Mike Reilly in the passing game, as both his leading receivers by yardage were running backs and his rare attempts to go deep usually broken up or picked off. Jonathon Jennings (shoulder) is inching closer to a return, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Lulay under center again next week at home against Saskatchewan.

July 25, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Head coach Wally Buono announced Tuesday that Lulay will start at quarterback Friday against the Eskimos, Farhan Lalji of TSN reports.

Regular starter Jonathon Jennings is making progress in his recovery from a shoulder injury, but he is not ready to get back under center just yet, so Lulay will start a second straight game. Lulay shined in two extended appearances the last couple weeks -- the first coming in place of an injured Jennings in Week 4 -- by racking up 840 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, and two running scores as well.

July 22, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay completed 28 of 43 passes for 404 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions and rushed for 14 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 45-42 win over the Blue Bombers.

With Jonathon jennings (shoulder) sidelined, Lulay got a chance to start under center for the Lions and led the team to a huge fourth-quarter comeback that saw them score 18 unanswered points. Jennings's status for next Friday's game in Edmonton hasn't yet been determined, but if he's unable to go once again Lulay could be a very intriguing fantasy play in another potential shootout.

July 20, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay is listed as the starting quarterback on the depth chart for Friday's matchup with the Blue Bombers.

Regular starter Jonathon Jennings is still feeling the effects of the shoulder injury that knocked him out of last week's game, so Lulay will be under center from the get-go in Week 5. Lulay racked up over 400 yards passing off the bench last week against a leaky Tiger-Cats secondary, and he will have a quality matchup again this week facing a Blue Bombers defense that is second to last in the league in passing yards allowed through four weeks.

July 15, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay entered the game in the first quarter of Saturday's 41-26 win over the Ti-Cats after Jonathon Jennings injured his shoulder and completed 29 of 36 passes for 436 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. He also gained seven yards and scored another touchdown on five rushes.

Lulay was stellar in relief, finding Nick Moore on 10 occasions for a whopping 220 yards and connecting with seven other pass catchers as well. The 33-year-old brings an abundance of experience and credentials to the starting lineup, considering he has two 4,000-yard campaigns on his resume. It remains to be seen if Lulay will be called upon to start the Lions' Week 5 tilt against the Blue Bombers, as Johnson is currently considered day-to-day with his bruised throwing shoulder.

November 21, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay took over under center to begin the third quarter of Sunday's 42-15 Western Final loss to the Stampeders, completing six of nine passes for 86 yards and a touchdown with one interception.

The Lions were down 32-0 at the half, so coach Wally Buono tried inserting Lulay into the lineup to give the team a spark, but it was all in vain. He was primarily used as an occasional goal-line replacement for Jonathon Jennings and ran for a career-high six TDs in 2016, but barring an injury to Jennings, Lulay's snaps aren't likely to increase next season.

August 26, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay made the most of his limited snaps Thursday, rushing for a pair of one-yard touchdowns while also throwing a two-point conversion to help seal a 29-23 win over the Redblacks.

He's become the Lions' short-yardage specialist at QB, but the rushing TDs were his first of the season. Barring an injury to starter Jonathon Jennings, Lulay simply won't see enough action to have any kind of reliable fantasy value.

July 8, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay completed 12 of 15 passes for 156 yards with a touchdown and interception in Thursday's 25-14 loss to the Argos.

The veteran pivot got the surprise call after Jonathon Jennings was unable to generate enough offense, and provided a highly efficient performance while running the offense in catch-up mode. The 2011 CFL Most Outstanding Player certainly has the pedigree and experience to take over when necessary, but it remains to be seen if the Lions will opt to go with him for the Week 4 matchup versus the Roughriders.

June 18, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lulay went 4-for-6 for 117 yards and gained two yards on two rushes in Friday's 31-21 preseason loss to the Stampeders.

The former starter fumbled on his initial dropback, but bounced back to put together an impressive line. His numbers were largely boosted by a 64-yard completion to Devonn Brown, but Lulay looked ready for regular-season action overall. The 32-year-old and former All-Star passed for 1,953 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2015 before a knee injury felled him in late September, and the absence eventually led to Jonathon Jennings taking the reins of the starting job.
