Jones agreed to a one-year contract extension with Saskatchewan on Wednesday, Lee Jones of CTV Regina reports.

Jones played in 10 games for the Roughriders during the 2017 season, accumulating three return touchdowns, including one in the Eastern Final against Toronto. He only recorded one reception for six yards, as Jones was deployed more as a special teamer than on the offensive side of the ball. Although he isn't an essential cog within the team's attack, he was was one of the best returners in the league, averaging 14.3 yards off punts and 23.5 yards on kickoffs. This extension will keep him with the team through the 2019 season, since Jones already was signed through next year.

Jones totaled 139 yards and a touchdown on six punt returns, 43 yards on two kickoff returns and 29 yards on a missed field-goal return in Friday's 18-17 win over the Redblacks.

The 24-year-old tailback/return specialist ignited what would be an 18-point comeback with an electric punt return touchdown in the latter stages of the third quarter. Jones has logged just one touch from scrimmage this season, but he's proven to be a reasonably effective return man. He'll look to make an impact once again in Week 16 against the Argonauts.

Jones will handle kick and punt returns during Sunday's game against the Stampeders, Ian Hamilton of reports.

Taken off the six-game injured list Friday, Jones will jump right back into handling return duties for the team. As a result, Marcus Thigpen will be relieved of that role.

Jones (shoulder) is being taken off the six-game injured list in advance of Sunday's game against the Stampeders and is expected to suit up, Lee Jones of CTV Regina reports.

While the depth chart for Sunday's game has yet to be released, there's a solid chance Jones will end up back returning kicks and punts for the team. Prior to his injury, he returned 11 punts for 198 yards and four kicks for 94 yards across three games.

Jones has been placed on the six-game injured list with a shoulder injury, Taylor Shire of Global Regina reports.

The extent of Jones' setback is uncertain, but his injury is likely to sideline him until sometime in October at the earliest. Jones' absence will be felt most in the return game, and there are several candidates to replace him on both kickoff and punt returns.

Jones is listed as a reserve slotback on the depth chart for Saturday's game against the Lions.

Jones shows up on the depth chart this week for the first time since signing with the Roughriders in mid-July. He does not figure to play a key role this week, but he could get a shot to show what he can do in a game situation.

Jones signed a contract with the Roughriders on Monday, Taylor Shire of Global Regina reports.

The Roughriders have already lost Ricky Collins (shoulder), Caleb Holley (shoulder) and Chad Ownens (foot) to injuries, so Jones should be a welcomed addition to add some depth on the outside. Jones, a 5-foot-11 receiver out of Alabama, had a short stint with the Dolphins before temporarily joining the Argonauts, but was unable to latch on long term with either organization.
