Spencer agreed to a one-year deal with Ottawa on Wednesday.

Spencer was an integral part of the Redblack offense during his first season with the team, catching 71 passes for 922 yards and six touchdowns while also serving as a top return man in the league. Ottawa general manager Marcel Desjardins stated that the organization hopes to see Spencer build on this past year, which should be exciting to watch. The 25-year-old will enter the 2018 campaign as top option on the team and one of the best fantasy choices in the CFL.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer posted nine receptions for 157 yards and a touchdown, compiled 37 yards on four punt returns and added 98 yards on four kickoff returns in Sunday's 31-20 Eastern Semi-Final loss to the Roughriders.

Despite the disappointing conclusion to the season for the Redblacks, they have to be thrilled with Spencer's prospects. The 25-year-old demonstrated his worth as both a receiver and returner on multiple occasions, eclipsing the century mark in receiving yardage in three of the last four games while also averaging an impressive 13.3 yards per punt return and 24.3 yards per kickoff runback on the season. Spencer's career-best campaign puts him squarely in Ottawa's 2018 plans to garner another Grey Cup, and he presently profiles as the team's most complete offensive threat.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer posted nine receptions for 133 yards, added 169 yards on seven punt returns, logged six kick returns for 165 yards and returned a missed field goal for 29 yards in Friday's 41-36 win over the Tiger-Cats.

Spencer's eye-popping numbers helped spearhead the Redblacks to a comeback victory in the regular-season finale. The all-purpose maven went over 100 receiving yards for the second time in the last three weeks and eclipsed the century mark in both punt and kick returns in the same game for the first time this season. Spencer has turned into a dynamic all-around weapon as the season has unfolded, and he finished the 2017 campaign with a career-high 922 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Spencer will undoubtedly be an integral part of the Redblacks' postseason plans as a multi-purpose threat.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer is listed as the kick and punt returner for Friday's game against Hamilton.

With Quincy McDuffie (undisclosed) off the active roster for this weekend's contest, Spencer will take over as the No. 1 return man in his place. During the team's last outing, Spencer caught three passes for 71 yards and a score against the Roughriders in Week 17, helping the Redblacks earn a 33-32 victory.

October 14, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer caught three passes for 71 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 33-32 win over the Roughriders.

His 12-yard TD catch inside the final minute of the first half with the Redblacks down 16-3 set the club on the path to another comeback victory. Spencer has now scored in consecutive games and has actually gotten into the end zone in four straight contests with Trevor Harris under center, making him a strong fantasy option once Ottawa returns from their Week 18 bye to close out the regular season.

October 8, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer caught three passes for 116 yards and a touchdown and added 49 yards on five punt returns in Saturday's 30-25 win over the Lions.

The third-year player now has a new career high in receiving yards with 718. Spencer remains the second option in the Ottawa passing game behind Greg Ellingson, but that's a role that still provides him with plenty of big-play potential now that Trevor Harris has recovered from his separated shoulder.

September 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer rushed once for one yard, logged three receptions for 24 yards, posted 24 yards on five punt returns and tallied 26 yards on his sole kickoff return in Friday's 18-17 loss to the Roughriders.

Spencer saw his first rushing touch since Week 11 and saw bump in his special teams work after ceding all kickoff returns to Quincy McDuffie in Week 14. The 25-year-old's five catches were also his most since Week 12, and he now has at least three receptions in seven consecutive contests. Spencer will look to remain heavily involved in a Week 16 tilt against the Lions.

September 22, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer posted two receptions for six yards and 24 yards on three punt returns in Friday's 29-9 loss to the Blue Bombers.

Spencer's fantasy upside on the night was clearly affected by the return of Quincy McDuffie (undisclosed), who ended up vulturing a trio of punt returns and seeing all of the kickoff return work. The latter development left the 25-year-old Spencer without any touches in that area for the first time since Week 8, and his two catches were also his lowest figure in that category since that same contest. It remains to be seen how head coach Rick Campbell will opt to distribute special teams work moving forward, but Spencer will try to bounce back with a better receiving effort nonetheless in Week 15 against the Roughriders.

September 17, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer totaled six receptions for 52 yards, 36 yards on four punt returns, 21 yards on his sole kickoff return and 113 yards and a touchdown on a missed field-goal return in Sunday's 29-11 win over the Alouettes.

Spencer has been turning in performances the likes of Sunday's for multiple weeks now, and he's essentially become the Redblacks' best all-around player. The 25-year-old wideout logged at least six catches for the fourth time in the last five weeks and has now notched a pair of return touchdowns this season as well. He'll look to continue producing irrespective of who's behind center when Ottawa takes on the Bombers in Week 14.

September 10, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer caught seven passes for 80 yards and a touchdown while adding 115 return yards in Saturday's 26-22 loss to the Tiger-Cats.

The third-year player has now set a new career high with four receiving TDs through 12 games, and he's well on his way to new personal bests in catches and receiving yards as well. Particularly in formats where his return prowess matters, Spencer should continue being a valuable fantasy asset, although the entire Redblacks offense could take a step backwards if Trevor Harris' shoulder injury proves to be serious.

August 31, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer hauled in four receptions for 22 yards and a touchdown, rushed once for 28 yards, returned six punts for 90 yards and posted one kickoff return for 16 yards in Thursday's 32-4 win over the Als.

Spencer was once again involved in multiple phases, which has become the norm over the last several weeks. The 25-year-old has 292 punt return yards in the last three games alone, and he's posted between four and seven receptions during that span as well. Spencer's versatility is rendering him a rewarding mid-priced DFS option each week, and he'll look to extend his successful stretch versus the Ti-Cats in Week 12.

August 26, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer totaled seven receptions for 61 yards, 15 yards on his sole rush, 92 yards on four punt returns, 60 yards on three kickoff returns and 91 yards on a missed field-goal return in Saturday's 31-24 win over the Lions.

Spencer turned in a jaw-dropping overall performance, contributing on the stat sheet in every area possible. The McNeese State product has upped his presence in the passing game over the last two weeks by logging 13 receptions over that span, his best two-game total of the season. He's also been highly effective as a punt returner, averaging an excellent 18.4 yards on his 11 runbacks over the last two contests. His seemingly secure special teams role combined with his expanding role as a receiver serve to make him an appealing DFS play each week. He'll look to maintain his recent uptick in production against the Als in Week 12.

August 18, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer posted six receptions for 51 yards, notched 26 yards on his sole kickoff return and compiled 110 yards on seven punt returns in Friday's 37-18 win over the Ti-Cats.

Spencer was an above-average contributor in multiple phases, looking particularly impressive on punt returns. The six receptions were also a season high for the 25-year-old, who just notched his first receiving touchdown of the season in Week 8. While he's competing for targets with several other talented pass catchers, his occasional special teams contributions keep him viable as a DFS dart thrown week to week. He'll look to follow up his Week 9 effort against the Lions in Week 10.

August 10, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer caught two passes for 45 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 27-20 loss to Edmonton.

While he's only topped 50 receiving yards once this season, Spencer is proving to be a useful secondary target for Trevor Harris, catching multiple passes in seven of eight games so far. The 25-year-old should continue to provide modest production, with his fantasy tied strongly to how often he can get into the end zone.

July 8, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer totaled 47 yards on four receptions, 36 yards on seven punt returns, 122 yards on five kickoff returns and eight yards on one missed field-goal return in Saturday's 26-25 loss to the Argonauts.

The 25-year-old posted solid numbers in multiple roles for the second straight week, generating serviceable production on special teams in particular. The McNeese State product looks like one of the CFL's most versatile weapons through the season's first three weeks, making him an intriguing, modestly-priced DFS option that should continue seeing plenty of return opportunities, considering the Redblacks' propensity for high-scoring games. He'll look to continue racking up the numbers in what could be a shootout with the Eskimos in Week 4.

June 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer totaled 107 yards and a touchdown on three receptions, 148 yards and another touchdown on six punt returns and 96 yards on four kickoff returns in Thursday's 43-39 loss to the Stampeders.

Spencer was a lethal weapon throughout the night in the second straight shootout between the Redblacks and Stamps, making a significant impact after totaling just eight yards on three receptions and adding a modest 29 punt return yards in Week 1. The McNeese State product brought Ottawa within 17-15 with his 96-yard punt runback in the second quarter, and his 65-yard catch-and-run score in the fourth closed the gap to 43-39 at the time. The 25-year-old speedster's performance was certainly an eye-opening one for a team in search of a downfield threat after the offseason departure of Chris Williams, making it highly likely that Spencer will begin seeing an increased role in the offense moving forward while also holding down both returner jobs.

June 19, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer lined up as a starting receiver at Monday's practice, Tim Baines of Postmedia reports.

Spencer jumped from Toronto to Ottawa during the offseason, and it appears the move will not cost him much in terms of snaps. However, he will have more competition for targets than he did in 2016, so it could be tough for him to match last year's career-best totals of 71 receptions and 706 yards.

February 14, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer signed a with the Redblacks on Tuesday, Tim Baines of the Ottawa Sun reports.

Spencer caught 71 passes for 706 yards and three touchdowns as a member of the Toronto Argonauts in 2016. He should provide a significant boost for the Redblacks' passing game.

October 22, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer caught five passes for 64 yards in Friday's loss to the Stampeders.

He hasn't seen a lot of targets in recent games, but this was Spencer's highest yardage total since he hauled in 132 yards back in Week 11 against the Ti-Cats. The second-year slotback already has career highs in catches and yards, but he'll look to pad those totals a little further in the Argos' final regular season game, Nov. 5 in Edmonton.

October 11, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer totaled only 32 yards but did score a touchdown on four catches in Monday's 48-20 loss to the Stamps.

The McNeese State product's 10-yard score came when the game was well out of reach in the fourth quarter and was his first since getting into the end zone in Week 13 versus the Blue Bombers. Spencer has been able to notch a solid number of receptions in every game this season-- his four grabs Monday were the lowest figure he's amassed in that category-- yet the yardage totals have generally been unspectacular. The 24-year-old started off his season with two stellar 100-yard efforts in his first four games, but has tallied no more than 63 yards receiving in the seven other contests he's been active for.

October 3, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer caught five passes for a team-high 63 yards in Sunday's loss to the Alouettes.

He now has 54 catches for 559 yards and two TDs in just eight games, and with the Argos releasing four other wide receivers Monday, Spencer figures to be Drew Willy's top target for the remainder of the season.

September 17, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer tallied six receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 46-29 loss to the Blue Bombers. He added three yards on one punt return.

The 24-year-old has been an integral component of the Argos offense since coming on board in Week 8. Spencer has hauled in no less than five receptions in any contest, and has 20 receptions over the last three weeks alone. His touchdown Saturday was his first since Week 8, when Spencer exploded for 11 receptions for 146 yards against this same Blue Bombers squad. He's now totaled a career-high 42 receptions and is only 32 yards short of his high-water mark of 502 yards from 2015.

September 6, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer caught eight passes for a team-high 132 yards in Monday's loss to the Tiger-Cats.

He's now piled up 30 catches for 351 yards in just four weeks of action, but the TD was the first of the year for Spencer. With he and quarterback Ricky Ray now seemingly back at 100 percent and showing excellent chemistry, Spencer could be headed for a very impressive finish to his second CFL campaign.

September 1, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer gained 36 yards on five receptions, 10 yards on his only rush and 40 yards on four punt returns in Wednesday's 16-13 loss to the Lions.

The McNeese State product put together a near-identical receiving line to the one generated against the Eskimos in Week 9, while also making some solid contributions in the punt-return game. Spencer flashed an impressive ceiling in his Week 8 debut with 11 catches for 146 yards and a touchdown, but hasn't come close to matching that type of production in the subsequent pair of contests. However, with his upside and special-teams work, he may make for a rewarding tournament flyer in coming weeks with Ricky Ray back under center for the Argos.

August 13, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer caught a game-high 11 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown in Friday's loss to the Blue Bombers.

After missing the first six games of the season due to a back injury, Spencer seemed intent on making up for lost time Friday. The second-year receiver had fairly modest numbers as a rookie, but he should see plenty of touches in the short term with both Tori Gurley (lower body) and Vidal Hazelton (ankle) currently sidelined.

August 11, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer began the season on injured reserve due to a back injury, but he'll get the start at receiver Saturday. The Argonauts are a bit thin at wide receiver, so it's unlikely Spencer will be limited.

June 21, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Spencer is likely to be sidelined several weeks with a lower back injury, the Toronto Sun reports.

Spencer will begin the season on injured reserve.
