Tolutau continued to battle a lower-leg issue this spring that he sustained at some point last season, but there is no word on whether that, his marijuana possession charge last season, or something else has resulted in his omission. Still, offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes stated "They're not with us right now. Hopeful they'll be back in the fall," indicating his career with the Cougars may not be over. Tolutau's absence would be a significant loss for the Cougars in the backfield; he averaged 4.2 yards per carry and two touchdowns over seven games as a freshman last season. The team possesses a number of capable backfield options to replace him, however, still sporting a roster with Squally Canada, KJ Hall (knee) and Kavika Fonua (foot) vying for playing time.
