It was announced in early January that Burns was mulling a transfer to another program, but he'll remain in Palo Alto for one more season. Burns will have an opportunity to gain an inside track on the starting job this spring and fall while 2016 starter Keller Chryst recovers from offseason knee surgery. Burns appeared in 11 games in 2016, completing 61.1 percent of his passes for 1,151 yards with five touchdowns and seven interceptions.
