This article is part of our IPL Preview series.

Sunrisers Hyderabad is the newest franchise out of the eight which will take part in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Sunrisers made their first appearance in the IPL in the 2013 season as they replaced Deccan Chargers who were suspended by the league's governing body in 2012.

In the previous edition, Hyderabad finished as runners-up after suffering an eight-wicket defeat in the final against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The team is led by New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who will have the coaching assistance of former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody.

In the batting department, the team will have the services of captain Williamson, his fellow countrymen Martin Guptill, England's Jonny Bairstow, right-hander Manish Pandey, veteran middle-order batsman Yusuf Pathan and wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, whereas the team will also hope that star batsman David Warner will join the team in the middle of the tournament as he is still recovering from an elbow injury.

On the bowling front, the onus will be on the likes of pacers Khaleel Ahmed, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Australia's Billy Stanlake and spin duo of Afghanistan's Rashid Khan and Shahbaz Nadeem to produce bulk of the damage.

The team will also have the services of all-rounders like Bangladesh's Shakib al Hasan and Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi, both of whom bat and ball at the same time and can make major contribution in the team's cause.
