Coleman was the first receiver selected in the 2016 draft, but injuries and weak QB play have slowed his ascension. In two seasons, Coleman has missed 13 games and put up abysmal per-play averages when he's been on the field. At 5-11, 185, Coleman is small, but he's also fast (4.40 40), lightning quick and extremely explosive (41-inch vertical, 129-inch broad jump). Regardless, the Browns deemed him expendable during the second week of training camp, offloading Coleman to the Bills in exchange for a seventh-round pick. While the trade isn't exactly a glowing commentary on his skills, Coleman does at least find himself on a team that's desperate for help at wide receiver behind Kelvin Benjamin. Still only 24 years old, Coleman figures to compete for the No. 2 role with Zay Jones and Andre Holmes. While he may be a favorite to win that spot, Coleman likely will struggle for efficiency in an undermanned Buffalo offense.

  2. Corey Coleman 2017 Preseason Outlook
Coleman's rookie year was derailed by a broken hand and weak quarterback play from the team's five different starters, so there's not much to take away from it. While he averaged a meager 5.7 YPT over 73 targets in 10 games, Coleman did have two catches of 40-plus yards. At 5-11, 185, Coleman is on the small side, but he's fast -- 4.40 40 time -- and has great quickness and athleticism (41-inch vertical, 129- inch broad jump). The Browns signed Kenny Britt to play opposite him, and the two will likely be co-No. 1 receivers for whoever wins the quarterback job. Still, the Browns lack receiving depth, so Coleman should have plenty of opportunities.
  3. Corey Coleman 2016 Preseason Outlook
The first receiver taken in the draft (15th overall), Coleman could immediately start, as he's battling the likes of Andrew Hawkins. It's unclear how much value there will be in the Cleveland passing game, however, as a broken Robert Griffin III and journeyman Josh McCown are the two options under center. At 5-11, 194, Coleman has merely average size, but he ran a 4.37 40 at his pro day at Baylor, and he was elite both in the broad jump (129 inches) and vertical leap (41 inches), i.e., he's incredibly explosive and athletic. Those attributes far outweigh his questionable hands and transition from a limited route tree in Baylor's spread offense. Coleman proved adroit at using his quickness to get separation and make big plays after the catch. It's not a good situation in Cleveland, but the opportunity for targets should be there.
