2018 Fantasy Outlook
The signing of Vance McDonald just before the start of last season seriously curtailed Grimble's production and reduced his role to that of a blocking tight end. He inked a new one-year deal, but remains behind McDonald and Jesse James in the pass-catching realm, limiting his fantasy value again this season. Read Past Outlooks

Grimble (concussion) cleared the concussion protocol Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Grimble managed to clear the league-mandated concussion protocol with time to spare for Week 13, and was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. The depth tight end is on track to suit up against the Chargers on Sunday, but Grimble is unlikely to see notable targets behind Vance McDonald and Jesse James.

Grimble caught 11 passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns in limited action during his rookie season. With Ladarius Green no longer on the team, Grimble could play a larger role in the offense, possibly challenging Jesse James for the starting tight end job.
Even with Ladarius Green starting the season on the PUP-R list, Grimble is behind Jesse James and David Johsnon on the depth chart, Should he survive roster cuts, he doesn't offer much in terms of fantasy value.
Currently last on the depth chart, Grimble will have an uphill battle during training camp to avoid being cut.
Grimble joined the 49ers' practice squad in September 2014.
