2018 Fantasy Outlook
The Dolphins have added veteran Frank Gore and fourth-round pick Kalen Ballage to their running back corps, which is headed by Kenyan Drake. Perry - who logged eight carries for 30 yards in 2017 -- thus figures to fight an uphill battle to earn a spot on the 53-man roster, and it seems likely that he'll be relegated back to a special teams role in 2018. Perry signed a contract with the Bills on Thursday, Chris Brown of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Perry led the Dolphins in special-teams tackles last season and is likely being brought to Buffalo to serve in a similar capacity. Unless the Bills suffer a rash of injuries at running back, he's highly unlikely to make much of an offensive contribution in 2019.

The Dolphins seem to be of the belief that quantity is better than quality, as Perry is yet another back (also, Storm Johnson) who hasn't played in the NFL since 2014, when he was a member of the Bears. Expect Perry to compete with Johnson for slotting on the RB depth chart during training camp. Very likely, the player who shows more on special teams would have the edge to make the team at the end of the preseason.
After signing with the Bears as an undrafted rookie in 2014, Perry was a full-time special-team player before spending the entire 2015 season on Injured Reserve with a foot injury. He’ll be expected to contribute again on special teams in his third year with the franchise.
Despite going undrafted out of Louisville, Perry earned a spot on the Bears’ 53-man roster last season, almost exclusively based on his ability to play on multiple special teams units. With both Matt Forte and fourth-round rookie Jeremy Langford roster locks heading into 2015, the Bears will once again need their third back to prove his worth on special teams. If it indeed comes down to that phase, Perry would seem have an edge over the likes of Ka’Deem Carey, Daniel Thomas, and Jacquizz Rodgers, though all of those three other backs possess more offensive upside.
An undrafted rookie out of Louisville, Perry will face long odds to beat out Michael Ford, Shaun Draughn and fellow undrafted rookie Jordan Lynch for No. 3 running back duties for the Bears in training camp.
