NFL Picks: Redskins and Vikings

This article is part of our NFL Picks series.

Stopa won the week with a 10-6 showing to pull into a three-way tie for fourth place, while Pianow continues to lap the field, a full eight games up. I'm in last place after a 6-10 week. We have two consensus picks this week: the Redskins and Vikings.

Enjoy the games.

Erickson The Rams are playing much better than they were over the first six games of the season - Steven Jackson is healthy and running well, for starters. I also like a few other 'buy-lows' in Minnesota and Cleveland. Tampa too, to a certain extent, looks like a sandwich game for the Packers.
PianowskiThe Raiders are the type of team that you love as a dog and you distrust as a favorite (or in this spot, a team that's line-respected on the road). Dallas is a similar club: now that the bandwagon is filling up, great time to take the bloated number with Washington. Everyone knows how bad the Redskins are on offense, but the defense is solid and should keep the game competitive. The New York-Philly line is silly; at what point does Bill Parcells logic ("you are what you are") apply to the Eagles?
LissVery tough slate. Found myself grabbing ugly teams as values for the most part and not feeling great about it.
StopaPeople don't think about offensive tackles when placing bets, but the single biggest reason the Raiders beat the Chargers last week was because Marcus McNeil was hurt during the game, and his replacement at left tackle was a turnstyle, allowing Philip Rivers to get harassed all night. McNeil has a history of neck issues and is seeing a specialist this week, so I doubt he plays, and remember - the Bears line up Julius Peppers at RDE. The Chargers two best defenders (Luis Castillo and Shaun Phillips) are also out, so this isn't a team that should be treated as nearly an equal to the Bears... Vegas continues to treat the Eagles as if they're a playoff-caliber team, failing to adjust to their 3-6 record or, perhaps more surprisingly for this week, Michael Vick's injury. There's no way the Giants should be giving only the standard three with Vick's injury issues... The Bills are killing me lately, in real life and these picks, but it's time to buy them low and sell the Dolphins high.
Del DonThis was without question the toughest slate for me so far this season.
