DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

The featured contests at DraftKings consist of the four evening games, which includes four teams playing the second leg of a back-to-back set. Additionally, all four contests are between divisional rivals.

GOALIE

Cam Talbot, EDM vs. VGK ($7,200): In the midst of a four-game losing streak with a .857 save percentage and 4.21 GAA, there's nothing encouraging about Talbot's current form. However, the poor play is built into his salary, which could make him a screaming value. Vegas also attempts the third most shots per 60 minutes in the league at 66.27, so he'll have an opportunity to pad his point total with saves.

CENTER

Nathan MacKinnon, COL at ANA ($7,900): The superstar has marked the scoresheet in four of his past six contests for three goals and five assists, and he boasts an elite 3.87 points and 11.52 shots per 60 minutes dating back to last season. MacKinnon also draws a soft matchup with Anaheim allowing the second most high-danger scoring chances per hour in the league at 14.04.

Travis Zajac, NJD at CAR ($5,200): It will be important to confirm the status of Nico Hischier (upper body) before locking in Zajac. But as long as the veteran center projects to center New Jersey's No. 1 line, he's a strong option. Zajac has collected five tallies and five helpers through his past 11 contests and connected with Taylor Hall for a respectable 4.32 goals per 60 minutes this season.

WING

Mikko Rantanen, COL at ANA ($6,900): This is a manageable salary for the Finn. As highlighted, it's a cushy matchup against the Ducks, and Rantanen has combined with Nathan MacKinnon for 5.37 goals per hour since the beginning of last season. The winger has also showcased a high offensive ceiling with eight multi-point games this year.

Jason Zucker, MIN at CHI ($6,100): With just three goals on 48 shots through his past 16 games, there's positive regression ahead of Zucker's 6.3 shooting percentage during the stretch. He sports a rock-solid 2.7 points and 9.92 shots per 60 minutes dating back to the 2017-18 campaign. The Blackhawks enter this contest allowing 13.24 high-danger scoring chances per 60, so the matchup also checks out.

Andrei Svechnikov, CAR vs. NJD ($4,500): The offensive numbers are a little underwhelming to this point of the campaign for the rookie, who's been held to just four goals and four assists. However, he's fired 50 shots and has been on the ice for the most high-danger scoring chances of any Hurricane at 23.75 while sporting a dominant 64.9 Corsi For percentage at even strength.

DEFENSE

Tyson Barrie, COL at ANA ($5,400): Projected to return to the quarterback role on the No. 1 power-play, Barrie is a strong option out of the shallow defense pool. As noted, it's a favorable matchup, and the 27-year-old defenseman owns a league-leading 2.27 points per hour over the past two seasons among all regular defensemen.

Andy Greene, NJD at CAR ($3,700): A potential low-priced flier to consider, Greene logs 21:31 of ice time per contest and has recorded 25 shots and 54 blocked shots through four contests. The peripheral contributions provide a respectable fantasy floor, which carries more value when there's less D-men from which to choose.
