DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

There are several NHL games Sunday, but only four in the evening slate that starts at 6:00 PM ET. That means the primetime contests for daily fantasy purposes will have somewhat slim pickings, but there are options out there. Here are some of the ones I like best.

GOALIE

Ben Bishop, DAL at VGK ($7,100): The Golden Knights sit middle of the pack offensively but they are playing their second game in as many days, whereas the Stars come in fresher. Bishop is also well rested, as he's not been playing a ton recently. But the veteran netminder has been great when he's played, with a 2.23 GAA and .927 save percentage.

CENTER

Sean Monahan, CGY at EDM ($6,800): Monahan is having a scorching-hot season – fitting for a Flame – with 18 goals and 35 points in 30 games, including 10 points on the power play. Though the Oilers have gotten good goaltending from Mikko Koskinen, they still own the 26th-ranked penalty kill.

Ryan Getzlaf, ANA vs. NJD ($5,700): Getzlaf has still got it, racking up 22 points in 25 games. That includes eight goals, which is a higher pace than usual for him. However, his 14.3 shooting percentage seems sustainable. Meanwhile, the Devils boast a 3.48 GAA, which ranks them in the NHL's bottom-five.

WING

Kyle Palmieri, NJD at ANA ($6,300): Palmieri has gone off for 14 goals and 24 points in 27 games, including 10 points with the extra man. He's also put 82 shots on net, which is what's most notable in this matchup. The Ducks have allowed 35.4 shots on goal per game, so Palmieri should be able to keep directing pucks on net, and perhaps even light the lamp.

Daniel Sprong, ANA vs. NJD ($4,200): It's only been two games, but getting freed from Pittsburgh and being dealt to Anaheim – which actually has space in their lineup for him – seems to be going well. The 21-year-old has started a whopping 83.3 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, and he's put eight shots on goal. As previously noted, the Devils have struggled with a 3.48 GAA, and Keith Kinkaid has recorded a 3.97 GAA over his last six starts.

Jason Spezza. DAL at VGK ($3,800): Spezza, who was just moved to the wing, has started a team-leading 63.7 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone. And as mentioned, Vegas is playing its second game in as many days. Malcolm Subban could be in net for the Golden Knights, and he comes in with a 4.03 GAA and .859 save percentage.

DEFENSE

Hampus Lindholm, ANA vs. NJD ($5,400): Since returning from injury, Lindholm has hit the ground running. He's notched four points in four games, giving him 14 on the season. The 24-year-old is also playing a ton of minutes, averaging 25:38 per game. I've already noted the Devils' 3.48 GAA a couple times, but it bears repeating given its awfulness this year.

Miro Heiskanen, DAL at VGK ($4,100): With John Klingberg out, Heiskanen has been thrust into being essentially the top defenseman for the Stars. Despite only being 19, the third-overall pick from 2017 has been up to the task. He has tallied 13 points on the season, with three over his last four games. Vegas, as you know, is playing the second leg of a back-to-back, and will either give Marc-Andre Fleury consecutive starts or throw in the struggling Malcolm Subban.
