DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Cal Petersen, LA at BUF ($7,400): There are plenty of good options tonight: Rask, Andersen, Holtby, Rinne and Hellebuyck. But, if you're looking for something cheaper, consider Petersen, who has a .929 save percentage on the season and has allowed two goals or fewer in his past three games. The Kings played last night but the Sabres are mired in a slump with five straight losses.

CENTER

Evgeny Kuznetsov, WAS vs. DET ($6,800): He's on a five-game point streak, and the Red Wings are playing the second half of a back-to-back. Kuznetsov has 18 points in 12 games at home this year, while the Caps have won two straight and eight of their past 10.

Aleksander Barkov, FLA at STL ($6,600): Barkov has scored six points in his past five games and has been a beast for the Panthers, averaging over 23 of ice time this season. He'll be difficult to handle even for a strong defensive player such as Ryan O'Reilly.

WING

Patrik Laine, WPG vs. CHI ($7,300): It's been five games since Laine's scored a goal, matching his longest cold streak of the season, and he snapped that drought with a hat trick in his sixth game. The Blackhawks are ripe for the picking — they lack consistency and don't have nearly the same amount of depth as the Jets, and in 11 career games against them, Laine has scored five goals and nine points.

Leon Draisaitl, EDM at COL ($7,100): Draisaitl is averaging over 24 minutes per game in his past eight games, including a season-high 28:48 against the Blues last Wednesday. The Avs are good at putting the puck in the net but not keeping it out, and expected starter Semyon Varlamov has lost both of his most recent games with 11 goals allowed.

William Nylander, TOR at CAR ($4,900): Grab him at a discount if you can because I'm not sure he'll remain this cheap for very long. The Leafs are easing him back into the lineup with Kasperi Kapanen remaining on Auston Matthews' right wing, but in his second back game since his holdout, Nylander has already looked much better, playing 16 minutes and registering three shots against the Bruins. The Hurricanes should be an easier opponent.

DEFENSE

Roman Josi, NSH vs. OTT ($6,000): This should be a walk in the park for the Preds despite losing back-to-back games. Josi is on a three-game assist streak, and the Preds are 11-5-0 at home and still hold the top spot in the Central Division. The Sens defense and goaltending have been porous all season, and even with a slew of injuries, the Predators should have the clear upper hand.

Josh Morrissey, WPG vs. CHI ($4,800): He's like a Jacob Trouba-lite in the sense that he can do just about anything, and with 15 points, 48 shots and 46 blocked shots in 27 games, there's plenty of value to be had. Prior to a 7-1 win against Philadelphia, Morrissey had skated over 28 minutes in each of the three previous games, and he carries a three-game point streak into a match with Chicago.
