FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Sunday is an unusual day for the NHL. The bulk of the games are in the afternoon, and a lot of teams are on the second day of a back-to-back. While the 12:30 PM ET game has been excised from the daily fantasy lineup, you still have to get your lineup in by 3:00 PM ET. There are seven games worth of players to choose from. Here are my recommendations.

GOALIE

Thomas Greiss, NYI vs. MIN ($8,300): While Robin Lehner has wowed us with his performance, Greiss is having a great season in his own right with a 2.33 GAA and .926 save percentage. Both the Islanders and Wild are on the second day of a back-to-back, but the Wild are the ones who have only scored 2.67 goals per game on the road.

CENTER

Dylan Strome, CHI vs. DET ($5,300): The Blackhawks were one of only three teams that didn't play Saturday, so Strome should be well rested. He's also been hot recently, notching 13 points in his last eight games. Jonathan Bernier will likely be in net for the Red Wings, and he enters with a 3.34 GAA and .898 save percentage.

David Krejci, BOS vs. COL ($5,200): With a goal Saturday, Krejci has now tallied three points in his last four games. Now he gets to go up against an Avalanche team that has gone down the tubes defensively in recent months. To illustrate that, likely starter Philipp Grubauer comes in with a 4.01 GAA and .869 save percentage in his last 11 outings.

WING

Chris Kreider, NYR vs. TOR ($6,700): Kreider has started 53.3 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, which is highest among Rangers forwards. He's potted 24 goals in 54 games, and the Rangers represent another team that was off Saturday. The Maple Leafs weren't, and Garret Sparks' .909 save percentage will likely be starting.

Nino Niederreiter, CAR at NJD ($6,000): The move to Carolina has been a blessing for Niederreiter. He's skating on the Hurricanes' top line, averaging about 3:30 more per game in ice time while firing home six goals in nine contests. Meanwhile, the Devils sit in the bottom-five in the league in GAA and are on a back-to-back, while the Hurricanes are not.

Thomas Vanek, DET at CHI ($4,300): Vanek has started a whopping 70.3 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest on the Red Wings. He's also been hot of late, with a four-game point streak and at least one point in eight of his last nine contests. Don't be surprised if he keeps his streak alive, as the Blackhawks have slumped to a 3.64 team GAA.

DEFENSE

Ryan Pulock, NYI vs. MIN ($4,200): Pulock was averaging 10.5 fantasy points per game before Saturday, and that's bound to rise after he scored two goals and notched eight shots on net in Saturday's win over the Avalanche. Alex Stalock will likely be in net for the Wild, having posted a 3.00 GAA and .896 save percentage.

Charlie McAvoy, BOS vs. COL ($3,900): McAvoy has had some issues in this injury-shortened season, but he did register two points and four shots on net in his last game. He now has 22 shots in 11 games since returning from his latest injury issue. The Avalanche sport a 3.50 road GAA, and also come in on the second day of a back-to-back.
