Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day, so you may be otherwise occupied, but there's no good excuse for not paying attention to the NHL on Saturday. There are nine games on the slate in the evening, giving you plenty of options for your daily fantasy hockey lineup. Here are my recommendations.
GOALIE
Darcy Kuemper, ARI vs. EDM ($7,900): Kuemper has been the best goalie in the NHL for weeks at this point. Over his last 16 games he has a 13-3-0 record with an 1.93 GAA and .941 save percentage. That should be enough to entice you on its own, but on top of that the Oilers have only managed 2.63 goals per game on the road.
CENTER
Max Domi, MON vs. CHI ($5,900): Domi has been having a career year since basically the beginning of the campaign. He's notched 24 goals on 171 shots, and added 38 assists for good measure. The Blackhawks have a 3.70 GAA, highest in the NHL, and they've also allowed 34.9 shots on net per contest.
Mikael Backlund, CGY at WPG ($5,700): Backlund has been on a tear, as he has 14 points in his last 14 games, and put 47 shots on goal in that time. Though the Flames are on the road for the second night of a back-to-back, I still feel like this is a worthwhile matchup to try and exploit. Since the All-Star break, the Jets have a 3.53 GAA, and they've allowed 35.9 shots on net per contest in that time.
WING
Nino Niederreiter, CAR vs. BUF ($5,200): When Niederreiter got traded to the Hurricanes, it kicked his game into a whole new gear. He has 11 goals and 10 assists in 24 games since being dealt, thanks in part to getting plopped down next to Sebastian Aho on the top line. The Sabres have been reeling in recent weeks defensively, as they have a league-high 3.75 GAA since the All-Star break.
Clayton Keller, ARI vs. EDM ($4,800): Keller has had some struggles this year, but he has seven points in his last 10 games. He also never had any issues with the extra man, as he has 19 power-play points. That bodes well for him here, as the Oilers have the 30th-ranked penalty kill.
Kevin Fiala, MIN vs. NYR ($3,700): Since joining the Wild, Fiala has started 65.7 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest on the team. He's also averaged 2:56 per game with the extra man. As for the Rangers, they have a 3.82 GAA on the road, and they are on the second night of a back-to-back. Fiala hasn't quite found his footing in Minnesota yet, but this is the matchup that could make it happen.
DEFENSE
Morgan Rielly, TOR at OTT ($6,600): Rielly has had a stellar season, as he's notched 19 goals on 193 shots through 71 games. He's also added 48 assists for good measure. The defenseman has never slowed down from his hot start either, as he has 10 points in his last 11 contests. As for the Senators, they have a 3.66 GAA and have allowed a league-high 36.0 shots on net per game.
Jacob Trouba, WPG vs. CGY ($5,400): Trouba has five points in his last seven games, giving him 39 points on the season. Four of those points have come with the extra man, giving him 14 power-play points total. Though the Flames have not been bad defensively, they are on the road for the second game of a back-to-back, so this is still a favorable matchup.
