DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Philipp Grubauer, COL vs. ARI ($7,600): Grubauer has been fantastic this month, going 6-2-1 with a miniscule 1.43 GAA, and since Feb. 1 has the league's second-best save percentage at .949 (min. 10 games). The Coyotes have not scored more than two goals in six straight games and still lacks a game-breaking A-list offensive star. The Avs have won three straight at home.

CENTER

Dylan Larkin, DET vs. NJ ($6,700): Larkin had a monster game with two goals, 12 shots and 19 faceoff wins in a 5-4 win against the Sabres in Buffalo last night. They're back home but playing back-to-back with travel in between can be tough, but keep in mind the Devils have allowed the fifth-most goals and in six other back-to-back series this season, Larkin's ice time has played the same amount in each game. If the Wings score, it's usually because of him. He has four points in his past three games.

Sam Steel, ANA at CGY ($3,000): The former major junior star scored a hat trick against the Canucks playing on the top line in Ryan Getzlaf's absence, and he should get the opportunity again against the Flames. Expected starter David Rittich has faltered recently after going 6-0-1 in January, winning just seven games since and allowing almost three goals per game. Steel is a great value play at this price.

WING

Mark Stone, VGK vs. MIN ($6,700): To the surprise of no one, Stone has been a gem for the Knights: nine points in 14 games with a 59 percent Corsi rating. That's seven points higher than his Corsi in Ottawa, which were already outstanding given the quality of his linemates. Expected starter Devan Dubnyk has won just two of his past eight appearances, and this is a good price for a high-quality player.

Alex Galchenyuk, ARI at COL ($4,700): He comes cheaper than two other top-six wingers, Clayton Keller and Vinnie Hinostroza (both $4,900), but you don't really give up too much upside. The bad news with the Coyotes is that they have a lot of trouble scoring, but Galchenyuk has been one of the team's more consistent shooters. He has seven points in 11 career games against the Avs.

Taro Hirose, DET vs. NJ ($2,700): With an assist last night against the Sabres, Hirose pushed his assist streak to five games, and played a season-high 16 minutes. Fluke or not, Hirose's definitely on a hot streak, and it helps playing with another young player in Andreas Athanasiou. Hirose is too tough to pass up at this price and at three fantasy points per game it puts him the same class as Rickard Rakell ($5,900) and Jason Zucker ($4,700).

DEFENSE

Mark Giordano, CGY vs. ANA ($6,700): The Ducks must have virtually no chance against the Flames, who have been dominant at home. The Ducks are dressing four rookies up front and three minor-league journeymen on the back end, and in two previous meetings this season the Flames were the better team, with Giordano registering an assist with a Corsi rating at around 57 percent.

Vince Dunn, STL at NYR ($4,400): His value is very dependent on points because he doesn't shoot a lot or block a lot of shots, but his offensive upside is evident with three assists in his past four games and a quickly-expanding role. He's now averaging close to 19 minutes a game after a season-low 14 minutes in January, playing alongside Alex Pietrangelo at even strength, and the Rangers have allowed the third-most goals in 2019.
