SLATE PREVIEW
It's a busy Tuesday night in the NHL, and the nine-game slate kicks off at 7:00 p.m. ET with four matchups, including a bout between heavyweights Washington (8-2-3) and Toronto (6-5-2). The Atlantic Division is top heavy right now, so the Maple Leafs need a win to keep pace while the Capitals are simply looking to main the Metropolitan Division lead.
The Wild travel to Dallas to face the old North Stars as both teams try to dig out of the early-season holes they dug themselves. Dallas owned the series 4-1 last year.
Before Opening Night, a meeting between the Bruins and Sharks looked to be a premier game, but the Sharks lethargic 4-7-1 start makes it less appealing. Someone has to stop the B's at some point, but the books don't think that's now, as they're tied with Tampa Bay (against Rangers) for the heaviest favorites (-195), according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
There's a ton of hockey going on, and it can be tough to decipher the right path. Read on for tips and tricks for setting your daily fantasy lineup Tuesday.
GOALIES
Tuukka Rask ($9,000) is absolutely superb to start the year, as he has a 5-0-1 record, .952 save percentage and two shutouts so far. He's a top bid for the Vezina Trophy, especially with a floor where he hasn't posted below a .912 this year. To be fair, it's a lot easier to secure wins behind that robust Boston offense, and it shouldn't be an issue again at home against either Martin Jones ($7,600) or Aaron Dell ($7,500), who have GAA's of 3.39 and 3.51, respectively.
Andrei Vasilevskiy ($8,500) has managed five wins over his first seen starts, but his game has slipped with a .907 save percentage so far. He still looks calm and collected in the crease, though, so it's just a matter of time before those numbers improve. The Rangers have a few injuries up front that could be concerning, and that will make it tough to break their current offensive funk. In the opposite cage, Alexander Georgiev ($7,300) gets the nod with Henrik Lundqvist hurting, and he's looking to break a three-game losing streak.
The matchup with the lowest O/U (5.0) is when the Wild visit the Stars. Ben Bishop ($8,400) looks like a sturdy pick in this slate with a .946 save percentage over the last four games, although his lack of offensive support could serve hit-or-miss Alex Stalock ($7,400) well.
Calgary has struggled to find their offense in opposing barns with just 1.71 goals per game over seven contests, which shapes up Petr Mrazek ($7,400) as a top value play. Mrazek's game has been inconsistent in its own right, though, as he's sandwiched two four-goal games between two shutouts.
VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS
Coach David Quinn wasn't optimistic Mike Zibanejad ($7,400) would overcome his upper-body injury in time to face the Lightning, so Ryan Strome ($4,800) could get his shot at the top line, possibly alongside Artemi Panarin ($7,500). Strome already carries a four-game, six-point streak into this contest, so the increased opportunities should help keep up the momentum.
The Blackhawks bumped Drake Caggiula ($3,600) to the left wing of Johnathan Toews ($6,500) and Patrick Kane ($7,900), and it worked immediately with a goal against the Kings on Sunday. He'll look to keep rocking against the Predators, who have allowed five goals on four occasions.
The Flames have been flaky defensively, but Erik Haula ($5,300) has avoided bumps in the road this year. He's notched a points in nine of 11 contests, and he paces the Hurricanes with seven goals on the year.
Evander Kane ($7,000) is priced according to his upside, which has featured massive surges this year. The 28-year-old has four pointless games in nine outings, but he also has two multi-point games including a hat trick. Although it's not a great matchup against the Bruins, he managed three points against Carey Price earlier this season, so he's the definition of a high-upside individual play.
FORWARD LINE STACKS
Boston Bruins (TOTAL: $25,300) 
C - Patrice Bergeron ($7,500)
W - David Pastrnak ($9,100)
W - Brad Marchand ($8,700)
This is going to be a highly used stack in tournaments, but the fear of missing out here is enough to keep plugging them in. They're out for blood. They've piled up 12 goals, 30 points and 65 shots on net over the last five games. It's a matchup proof unit, and it doesn't hurt whoever the Sharks deploy in the blue pain, as both backstops have yielded three-plus goals more often than not.
Edmonton Oilers (TOTAL: $21,500) 
C - Connor McDavid ($8,800)
W - Leon Draisaitl ($8,500)
W - Zack Kassian ($4,200)
The underrated days are over for Draisaitl. Even after racking up 50 goals and 55 assists last year, many believed his success was due to McDavid's impact. Sure, it makes a difference, but Draisaitl would be a star anywhere else as well. The duo has combined for 15 goals and 42 points over the first 12 games, and now they'll hone in on the Red Wings, who have yielded five goals in six of the last eight contests.
Tampa Bay Lightning (TOTAL: $17,100) 
C - Steven Stamkos ($8,600)
W - Tyler Johnson ($4,900)
W - Mathieu Joseph ($3,600)
The Lightning are mixing up the top six in hopes of getting something rolling, and the Rangers offer an excellent matchup with the second-worst GAA (3.78). And they're bound to turn it around soon enough considering Stamkos and Johnson put together 76 goals last season.
DEFENSEMEN
Roman Josi ($7,000) and Ryan Ellis ($5,200) have provided a lethal tandem with 19 points -- seven on the power play -- over the past seven contests. They don't need to be paired together, but it's not a bad stack considering both offer an intriguing floor of firing shots and blocking them too.
The Oilers' stack has been mentioned, and bringing along a D-man can up the positive correlation. Oskar Klefbom ($5,300) and Darnell Nurse ($4,800) both work on the power play, and they both average over two shots on goal and two blocked shots per game.
Dougie Hamilton ($6,500) has been kept off the scoresheet just once this year, and he's second only to Josi in fantasy points per game (18.69). The Flames have yielded 10 points to blueliners over the last three games, so Hamilton's spot in the point column looks secure.
Anthony DeAngelo ($4,500) can fire up a mean streak, and he's riding a three consecutive games with multiple points into this contest, including two points on the man advantage. Considering Tampa Bay is among the league's worst penalty killers (69.2 percent), DeAngelo well-positioned to continue the ride.
