Might be shopped on trade market
Montreal might shop Dvorak on the trade market, Marco D'Amico of Montreal Hockey Now reports.
ANALYSIS
Dvorak was held off the scoresheet in his first seven games of 2022-23, but he's bounced back with three goals and six points in his last seven contests. He's a capable middle-six center who is good on the draw and comes with a reasonable $4.45 million annual cap hit through 2024-25. That could be enough to provide the Canadiens with a decent return if they trade him. It's also worth noting that he has a modified no-trade clause that begins with the 2023-24 campaign, so if Montreal does want to trade him, then doing so this season might be the easiest time.

Dvorak played 56 games for a second straight season, which was fine in the pandemic-shortened 2020-21 campaign, but not so good given the NHL went back to a normal 82-game schedule in 2021-22. He finished with 11 goals and 33 points, in addition to a minus-19 rating. Like many of his Montreal teammates, it's difficult to decipher whether Dvorak's subpar season was his own doing or the result of the team posting the worst record in the league. Regardless, the Canadiens need a rebound performance from Dvorak considering he is signed for three more years at a cap hit of $4.45 million.
