New deal might come soon
The Kings hope to have Gavrikov signed to a contract before the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, per the Mayor's Manor staff.
ANALYSIS
Gavrikov, who is a pending unrestricted free agent, posted three goals, nine points and 26 blocked shots in 20 games with the Kings last season after being acquired from Columbus. The Kings reportedly shed some salary Tuesday to help get a contract done by sending Cal Petersen and Sean Walker to Philadelphia as part of a three-way trade with the Flyers and Blue Jackets.

The Jackets got all they could have possibly hoped for and then some from Gavrikov a season ago. In 80 games, he finished with career-best marks in goals (5), assists (28), points (33), shots on goal (108), average time on ice (22:18), hits (124) and blocks (138). As valuable as Gavrikov was for Columbus, a repeat performance, at least offensively, seems unlikely. He doesn't have a single power-play point in any of his first three NHL seasons, while the Jackets' No. 1 defender, Zach Werenski, is expected to return to full health. Gavrikov is going to help Columbus win hockey games but his value to your fantasy team is minimal.
