Recent RotoWire Articles Featuring Gabriel Vilardi See More
Shawn Hutchinson encourages you to see this season out regardless of where you finish, and that means taking him up on some of his waiver-wire suggestions for the week.
This week's risers includes Evgeny Kuznetsov, who's trade to Carolina has breathed new life into his career, at least temporarily.
Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might shift to center
Vilardi might shift to center if Mark Scheifele, who is a game-time decision for Saturday's contest against Philadelphia due to a lower-body injury, can't play, John Lu of TSN reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Vilardi has 10 goals and 19 points in 23 contests this season. He has experience on the draw, having taken 634 faceoffs with a 45.9 percent success rate in 2020-21, but this year he's won 20 of just 42. The 24-year-old is averaging 16:51 of ice time, but with Scheifele potentially joining Kyle Connor, who is dealing with a knee injury, on the shelf, the Jets might send out Vilardi more frequently Saturday.

It's been a rough go of it for Vilardi. He's struggled to stay healthy and when he has been in the lineup recently, he hasn't produced. In 25 games with Los Angeles last season, he posted just five goals and two assists. He's been passed on the depth chart by the likes of Quinton Byfield and Arthur Kaliyev, making it difficult to rely on Vilardi from a fantasy perspective in both the short and long term. Toss in the injury risk and this is a situation that should be avoided.
