DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

Sunday sees two series move to Edmonton and Nashville, which changes things for daily fantasy players. The puck drops on the first game at 3:00 PM ET, so be sure to get your lineup in promptly. Here are some players to consider…

GOALIE

Jake Allen, STL at NAS ($7,300): The Blues only allowed 2.54 goals and 29.3 shots on net on the road this season, so the move to Nashville isn't too much of a concern. St. Louis also allowed a league-low 1.88 goals per game after the All-Star break. Allen has a 1.89 GAA and a .941 save percentage this postseason, and he's the lowest priced of the goalies in line to start Sunday. Allen has played as well as any goalie recently, so getting him and saving a few bucks could benefit your lineup.

CENTER

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, EDM vs. ANA ($4,600): In the postseason, John Gibson has a 2.76 GAA and a .915 save percentage, and during the regular season the Ducks allowed 2.80 goals per contest on the road. Nugent-Hopkins has a power-play point in both games in this series, and he's played 3:19 per game with the extra man against the Ducks. RNH also tallied 200 shots on goal this year.

Jori Lehtera, STL at NAS ($3,400): Lehtera started 43.4 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, which was second most of any Blue, and a high number overall. That doesn't always yield success, but he has tallied three points in his last three playoff games. After the All-Star game, the Predators gave up 2.78 goals per contest. At this price, Lehtera doesn't have to do a ton to be a good fantasy value, and with only four teams in action you can afford to take a gamble on low-priced players with upside.

WING

Leon Draisaitl, EDM vs. ANA ($6,900): Selecting somebody like Lehtera for your lineup allows you to spend the money on a player like Draisaitl. He had a fantastic regular season, notching 29 goals and 48 assists, including 27 power-play points. While Draisaitl got off to a slow start to the playoffs, he's notched seven points in his last four contests. Furthermore, the Ducks currently have the worst penalty kill in the playoffs.

Patrick Maroon, EDM vs. ANA ($4,600): Maroon started 35.6 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, second most among Edmonton forwards that played at least 300 minutes this season. He made the most of his offensive opportunities, notching 27 goals. Maroon tallied a power-play goal in Game 2 of this series, and while that came off his skate, he did have four shots on net in the contest.

DEFENSEMEN

Ryan Ellis, NAS vs. STL ($5,100): Ellis is currently riding a five-game point streak. In addition to registering 140 shots on net in 71 games, he blocked 137 shots in the regular season. In the playoffs, he's added 20 more blocked shots, so he may be able to add some extra fantasy value on the defensive end of the ice.

Andrej Sekera, EDM vs. ANA ($4,400): Sekera may not be as much of a fantasy standout as Oscar Klefbom, but he has averaged a respectable 2.8 fantasy points per game. He's notched three points in his last four games and averaged 2:31 in the power play in the playoffs. As noted earlier, the Ducks have the worst postseason PK, and Gibson has a 2.76 GAA. Now that the series has moved to Edmonton, that's another point in Sekera's favor. Additionally, Sekera blocked 166 shots on goal in 80 games, and he's added 19 more in eight postseason contests.
