FanDuel NHL: Friday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

The NHL has six games on tap Friday including a potential high scoring affair between the Panthers and Penguins. The Capitals take on the surprising Red Wings, and the Jets look to get their high-powered offense going at home against the Wild. When building your FanDuel lineups tonight, consider some of these value options below.

Goalie

John Gibson, ANA vs MTL ($8,300): The Canadiens are a mess right now as they haven't been able to get anything going offensively. They're averaging just 1.43 goals per game, dead last in the NHL, and have been playing uninspired hockey since the season started. Gibson is coming off of a tough loss in his last start, allowing just two goals on 30 shots against. He's always been a solid play at home, and with a goals against average of 2.33 and a save percentage of .924, he's a solid option at a value price.

Center

Vincent Trocheck, FLA vs PIT ($5,200): The Panthers and Penguins face off in what should be a high-scoring game on Friday. Trocheck is still vastly underpriced as he's skated very well over his last four games. Over that span, he has two goals, one assist and 19 shots on goal. The Penguins have been one of the worst teams at defending the center position this season.

Ryan O'Reilly, BUF vs VAN ($5,300): The Canucks are playing in their second game in as many nights, and the Sabres are coming in with fresh legs. O'Reilly is a nice pivot off of Jack Eichel at around $2,000 less in salary while potentially being just as productive. In his last two games he has two goals, both of the power play variety, as well as an assist.

Wing

Kevin Labanc, SJS at NJD ($4,400): Labanc is a great value on the top line, skating with Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski, as well as seeing time on the second power-play unit. The Devils have allowed a ton of shots this season, around 35 per game. Labanc has points in three straight games and is in a good spot against a Devils team that just played one night ago.

Jason Zucker, MIN at WPG ($4,200): The Wild have been decimated with injuries, which has propelled Zucker into first-line minutes. Over his last three games he has two goals and two assists. The Jets are allowing 3.83 goals and 35.8 shots on goal against per game. He's a nice value on a solid team in a great matchup.

Justin Abdelkader, DET vs WAS ($3,700): At a sub-4k price tag, you could do much worse than Abdelkader tonight. He's seeing close to 18 minutes of ice time on average and is skating on the second line and top power-play unit. Averaging 10.13 FanDuel points per game, he is a great option who should hit value.

T.J. Oshie, WAS at DET ($5,900): Oshie is incredibly underpriced as a second-line winger for the Capitals. He has three goals and three assists this season, with all of his goals coming on the power play. He skates with Nicklas Backstrom and is part of a high-powered Capitals offense that is averaging over three goals a game this season.

Defense

Olli Maatta, PIT at FLA ($4,500): Maatta has been incredibly consistent for the Penguins, scoring points in six of seven games this season with two goals and five assists. The popular option in this spot is Kris Letang who is also very expensive. Maatta makes for a nice pivot option in a game that I see being very high scoring.

Ryan Suter, MIN at WPG ($5,100): The Wild's best defenseman, Suter has yet to get his scoring going this season, but that's not too say he's been invisible on the ice. He's averaging more than 25 minutes of ice time per game to go along with 3.50 shots on goal and 2.25 blocked shots. With just three points so far, expect a good effort against a Jets team that is allowing nearly four goals per game.
