DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Thomas Greiss, NYI vs. PHI ($7,700): The Islanders are an impressive 6-0-2 at home this season while allowing a just 2.07 goals and 11.33 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes at five-on-five. With Philadelphia entering the contest playing its second game in consecutive nights, this checks out as a favorable spot for Greiss, and he's also won three consecutive outings with a respectable .917 save percentage.

CENTER

Sidney Crosby, PIT vs. VAN ($7,300): With just a single goal and a 2.3 shooting percentage through his past 14 games, this is a solid buy-low spot for No. 87. Additionally, Crosby's 2.13 points per 60 minutes for the campaign has plenty of positive regression ahead after he posted a 3.58 mark last season. Vancouver is also playing its second road game in consecutive nights, and the Pens will need to lean on their captain even more with Evgeni Malkin out of action.

Mathew Barzal, NYI vs. PHI ($5,300): Now up to 19 points -- four goals -- through his past 15 games, Barzal is proving to be a high-end playmaker. He's settled into a second-line role with time on the No. 1 power-play unit, and as noted, Philadelphia travels to Brooklyn for this contest after losing 5-2 to Vancouver on Tuesday. The rookie's salary remains manageable, and he should also avoid top defensive matchups for the Flyers.

WING

Nikita Kucherov, TB vs. CHI ($8,200): With Chicago allowing the fifth most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.36) in the league, Kucherov is worth a long look. He has 12 multi-point showings, 17 goals, 16 assists and 51 shots through 20 games this season, so he offers the high-floor, high-ceiling combo worth spending up for.

Teuvo Teravainen, CAR vs. NYR ($5,700): At some point, Teravainen is going to cool off, but he's currently rolling and lands in a soft matchup. The Finn has collected five goals, 12 points and 17 shots through his past six contests, and New York has surrendered the second most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (13.34).

Kevin Fiala, NAS vs. MON ($4,100): The gifted young scorer has found a groove (two goals and six points) skating with Kyle Turris the past four games, and the duo has combined with Craig Smith for 4.44 goals per 60 minutes since Turris was acquired from Ottawa. This is also an excellent schedule spot for the Preds. Nashville is 7-1-1 at Bridestone Arena, and Montreal enters on the second leg of a back-to-back road spot with 14 goals allowed through its past three games. It's also worth noting that Habs' No. 1 defenseman Shea Weber (lower body) was unable to suit up for Tuesday's game.

DEFENSE

Victor Hedman, TB vs. CHI ($6,400): The stalwart defenseman has four multi-point showings through his past eight games for a goal, eight assists, 14 shots and nine blocked shots. He's moving the needle across all categories and averaging 25:19 of ice time per contest (3:33 with the man advantage). As noted, this is a excellent matchup for the Lightning, and it also checks out as a tape-measuring contest.

Sami Vatanen, ANA vs. VGK ($3,800): This salary jumps out as a safe value, as Vatanen has recorded four points, nine shots and 16 blocked shots through his past six games. His point shot is a focal point of the Anaheim power-play attack, and the Golden Knights have surrendered 3.55 goals per 60 minutes on the road.
