DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Carey Price, MON vs. OTT ($7,900): Ottawa has scored two goals or fewer in each outing of its active six-game losing streak, and the Sens have generated the second fewest high-danger scoring chances (9.34) per 60 minutes in the league this season. Price has been spectacular through two games back with just a single goal allowed on 74 shots, too. Additionally, there's a chance Jake Allen is the more popular play with St. Louis hosting the reeling Ducks.

CENTER

Mark Scheifele, WPG at COL ($7,000): The pivot snapped a three-game point drought last time out with a goal, two helpers and three shots. Those slumps have been few and far between over the past two years for Scheifele, as he's collected 44 goals and 110 points over 103 games dating back to the beginning of last season. With a manageable salary and cushy matchup, he's worth a long look.

Brayden Schenn, STL vs. ANA ($6,600): Not only are the Ducks riddled with injuries, they've also allowed the most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.99) in the league. While Schenn has been held off the scoresheet in consecutive games, he had recorded seven goals and 19 points during an eight-game point streak immediately prior. This matchup has rebound outing written all over it.

WING

Vladimir Tarasenko, STL vs. ANA ($7,600): There has been more game-to-game inconsistency from Tarasenko this season, but as noted, the Ducks are a favorable opponent for the star winger. He's recorded nine multi-point outings through 24 games this season and has 12 goals, 16 assists and 108 shots overall for the campaign. His shot volume alone offers a respectable floor.

Kyle Connor, WPG at COL ($5,000): This is a reasonable salary to turn to Connor. He has collected six goals, 13 points and 38 shots through his past 15 games and stacks perfectly with center Mark Schiefele. The Avs have also surrendered 3.15 goals and 11.43 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes, so this isn't a tough setup for the Jets.

Tyson Jost, COL vs. WPG ($3,300): Projected to skate in a top-six role and with the No. 1 power-play unit, Jost is an upside source of cap relief. This will be his first game since returning from a conditioning stint in the AHL, so his ownership percentage should be low. As a result, a modest showing could be a contest swinger.

DEFENSE

Dustin Byfuglien, WPG at COL ($5,100): Without a goal on 43 shots all season, taking a shot on statistical correction in a favorable matchup is in play with Byfuglien. He's still skating with the No. 1 power-play unit and averaging a hefty 24:06 of ice time (3:13 with the man advantage), so he's positioned to snap his current nine-game point drought. The salary offers wiggle room under the cap to spend up elsewhere, too.

Vince Dunn, STL vs. ANA ($3,000): With Dunn unlikely to receive much attention from this pool of defenseman, he checks out as a contrarian lean. He's still skating consistently with the No. 2 power-play unit and has approached 20 minutes of ice time in consecutive games. In his price range, it's difficult to find a player with a similar role. Additionally, while Dunn has just five points and 41 shots through 24 games, he owns the offensive ability to capitalize on this soft matchup.
