DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Braden Holtby, WAS vs. VAN ($8,200): Vancouver has hit a midseason wall with a 2-10-2 record dating back to early December, and the Canucks have scored just 2.25 goals per 60 minutes during that span. Holtby boasts an elite 15-4-0 record, .932 save percentage and 2.14 GAA at home for the campaign, which includes eight consecutive wins at Capital One Arena. The Capitals are also huge home-ice favorites.

CENTER

Blake Wheeler, WPG at BUF ($7,600): Through five games with Mark Scheifele (upper body) out of the lineup, Wheeler has stepped up to the tune of five goals, three assists and 20 shots while logging 19:17 of ice time (3:15 with the man advantage). While the Winnipeg top line has only shared the ice for 163:07 this season, Wheeler, Patrik Laine and Kyle Connor have combined for 6.25 goals per 60 minutes. There's nothing scary about a matchup against the basement-dwelling Sabres, either.

Evgeny Kuznetsov, WAS vs. VAN ($5,700): Currently in an offensive lull with just a single helper and seven shots through his past six contests, the Russian center lands in a slump-busting matchup. The Canucks have won once in regulation through their past 14 games and allowed 4.37 goals per 60 minutes during the skid. With a top-six role, a gig on the No. 1 power-play unit and a high-end 2.94 points per hour, Kuznetsov stands as a strong value.

WING

Vladimir Tarasenko, STL vs. FLA ($7,400): The Russian sniper appears to be finding his form again with three goals, three assists and 23 shots through his past six contests. Tarasenko is locked into a go-to offensive role and boasts an elite 3.03 points per 60 minutes at Scottrade Center this season. This is also the last stop of a four-game road trip for the Cats, and Florida has allowed 12 goals through the first three outings -- all losses.

Mark Stone, OTT vs. CHI ($5,400): With three goals and 12 assists through his past 12 outings and a respectable 2.46 points per 60 minutes for the campaign, Stone's salary presents value. He's locked into a top offensive role, and the Blackhawks are allowing the fourth most high-danger scoring chances per hour (12.59) in the league. Chicago also projects to be without No. 1 goalie Corey Crawford (upper body) again, which sweetens the matchup for Stone and the Sens.

Ivan Barbashev, STL vs. FLA ($3,200): A cheap option to help mitigate projected linemate Vladimir Tarasenko's salary in a potential mini stack, Barbashev offers nice upside. The 22-year-old Russian hasn't been given a prolonged opportunity in a scoring role, but he's now collected a goal and two assists through his past two contests and has an impressive offensive track record at lower levels.

DEFENSE

Duncan Keith, CHI at OTT ($5,000): It appears Father Time might finally be taking a toll on Keith's production, as his 1.18 points per hour is well below his 1.55 mark from last season. However, the veteran is still logging oodles of ice time and quarterbacking the No. 1 power-play unit, and his offensive decline has been built into his price. Additionally, the Sens have allowed 24 goals through their past six games.

Christian Djoos, WAS vs. VAN ($3,000): A low-priced candidate in a potential Capitals stack, Djoos has been starting 63.2 percent of his five-on-five shifts in the offensive zone and has also been skating on the top pairing of late. The Swedish defenseman recorded an impressive 58 points -- 13 goals -- through 66 AHL games last season, and his 1.54 points per 60 minutes at home this season is a solid mark. As noted, it's a soft matchup against Vancouver, too.
