DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

The NHL's Sunday slate is heavy on afternoon games, but those aren't included in the daily fantasy contest. Instead, you will have to pick players from the three evening games. On that front, here are some players I recommend for your lineups to end the weekend.

GOALIE

Devan Dubnyk, MIN vs. DET ($8,300): Minnesota is 22-5-6 at home this year, where they have been a decidedly better team. Case in point — the Wild have a 2.18 GAA at home, which is lowest in the NHL. The Red Wings, on the other hand, have only scored 2.58 goals per game.

CENTER

Logan Couture, SAN vs. CBJ ($6,300): Over his last seven games, Couture has five points and 27 shots on goal. He's also averaged 3:08 per game with the extra man, tallying 17 power-play points in 61 contests. The Blue Jackets have the 30th-ranked penalty kill on the road, so Couture's power-play success could really pay off in this matchup.

Bryan Little, WPG at CAR ($4,000): Little has 13 goals and 24 assists through 64 games, including five points in his last eight contests. He's also going up against a Hurricanes team that has a 2.95 GAA, highest of every team in action Sunday. Carolina also has an .897 save percentage. With only six teams in action, Little is worth a shot at this price.

WING

Jason Zucker, MIN vs. DET ($6,300): Zucker has 26 goals and 25 assists though 65 games, and since 2018 began, he has 24 points in 26 contests. The Red Wings have a 2.94 GAA, but part of that was on the shoulders of the since-traded Petr Mrazek. Jimmy Howard has a 3.13 GAA and a .902 save percentage over his has 14 games.

Timo Meier, SAN vs. CBJ ($4,700): Meier has three goals in his last four games and 17 goals on 164 shots through 64 contests. Though the Swiss winger doesn't get a ton of power-play time, the Blue Jackets have a 3.15 GAA on the road. He can still take advantage of this matchup even without time with the extra man.

Kevin Labanc, SAN vs. CBJ ($4,300): Unlike Meier, Labanc has had power-play success. He's averaged 2:04 per game with the extra man and tallied 14 power-play points through 60 contests. That bodes well for Labanc, considering the Blue Jackets have the 27th-ranked penalty kill. Additionally, he's started 56.9 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, second highest among Sharks forwards.

DEFENSEMEN

Jared Spurgeon, MIN vs. DET (5,200): Spurgeon has averaged 3.3 fantasy points per game thanks in part to nine goals on 104 shots through 56 contests. He's also tallied 11 points with the extra man. The Red Wings have the 27th-ranked penalty kill on the road. Spurgeon has also blocked 117 shots, so he adds a little fantasy value on that end of the ice.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic, SAN vs. CBJ ($4,500): Vlasic has averaged 3.1 fantasy points per game, and over his last 10 contests, he has seven points. He's also already tallied a career-high 10 goals through 64 games. Columbus, as previously noted, has a 3.15 GAA in away games. On top of all this, "Pickles" has blocked 132 shots.
