DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Braden Holtby, WAS vs. NYI ($8,100): With just a single win, an .854 save percentage and 4.82 GAA through his past eight starts, Holtby is a risky option against the capable Islanders' offense. However, his price and current form could prove to be contrarian gold if the backstop can find his game. Don't forget, Holtby entered this season with a .923 save percentage over the previous three years.

CENTER

Evgeny Kuznetsov, WAS vs. NYI ($6,200): The Islanders have surrendered the most goals (3.51) and high-danger scoring chances (12.98) per hour this season, so this checks out as a soft matchups for the Washington offense. Kuznetsov enters with consecutive multi-point showings while skating with Alex Ovechkin in all situations. The duo is now up to 5.77 goals per 60 minutes for the year, so they project to be a strong stack option.

Matt Duchene, OTT vs. DAL ($5,000): Dallas enters this contest with losses in five of its past six contests and a struggling Kari Lehtonen (.904 save percentage during that span), so Duchene's salary jumps out as a bargain. The center has recorded three goals, four assists and 13 shots through his past five contests to improve to an impressive 3.17 points per 60 minutes since Jan. 5.

WING

Alex Ovechkin, WAS vs. NYI ($7,800): As highlighted this is target-worthy matchup for Ovechkin, and his price doesn't prohibit filling out a strong roster around him. While it's possible No. 8 is a popular selection, his 1.79 goals and 12.82 shots per 60 minutes rank third and first among all regulars in the league, respectfully.

Charlie Coyle, MIN at VGK ($4,500): Riding a four-game point streak and back in a top-six role, Coyle checks out as a nice value. The Golden Knights allowed eight goals to the Devils at home on Wednesday, and Minnesota will also be looking to avenge a 5-1 home loss to Colorado on Tuesday. Vegas also might be finally losing some steam.

Gustav Nyquist, DET at ANA ($3,800): Considering Nyquist has marked the scoresheet in consecutive games for two goals, an assist and five shots while playing top offensive minutes, this salary stands out as a clear discount. While it's obviously a tough matchup against the Ducks, it's rare to find someone as talented as Nyquist in this price range.

DEFENSE

John Klingberg, DAL at OTT ($5,700): This is a reasonable salary to lock in Klingberg. He's recorded an assist and 12 shots while logging 28:41 of ice time through his past two contests and boasts a fourth-ranked 2.05 points per 60 minutes among all regular defensemen for the campaign. Additionally, the Sens have surrendered the third most goals (3.4) and sixth most high-danger scoring chances (12.69) per hour since Jan. 1.

Mathew Dumba, MIN at VGK ($4,900): Historically, Dumba's fantasy value has skyrocketed when Jared Spurgeon (hamstring) was out of the lineup, and that'll be the case for the remainder of the regular season. Dumba is already in the midst of a career year with 10 goals and 38 points, and he also helps in the peripheral categories (139 shots and 96 blocked shots). Additionally, there's potential he sports a low ownership percentage.
